Glad to see interest in keeping these older machines running. It's a shame how we have become a throwaway world.

Although I did not restore my 90, I had it repainted in 2007. Cost me 4100$ and almost a heart attack!!

I am interested in following your progress DT.

I just got my 1991 W 350 back on the road after a few years in the garage. It was a nice solid Colorado truck that ran a transmission out of oil on its way to Denver ten or more years ago.

I learned how to paint from an uncle who was a "Body and Fender" man after getting out of the Army Air Corps after WWll. He taught me how to use lead, paint and a whole host of tricks which I am thankful to say stood me in good stead when I repainted my cab after my '93 was totaled. He always said the best jobs were in the prep details.

I am changing the old heat only system to the heat AC type and I can't get power to the fan. There is 12 V coming out of the fuse panel but it never gets to the switch. I did find with the schematic that the wiring is quite different and that speed regulator is now a five wire and not three. I changed that out but something is still lost in the changeover. Wiring schematics are not my forte so if anyone knows the secret to this, the help would be appreciated. All that is left is a little more interior work, paint and fit the hood and put the bed on. I can see the light faintly. Thanks for the help

Keep us posted if you figure it out:) I have found that the circuits on the heater system are very complicated. I have been working on a Jeep (very simular to Dodge) and can't nail down the problem to the point of no doubt. I think it is the switching system (all one unit) but am afraid to buy one for fear I am wrong. I have found that the final circuit to the blower is ground based, not power. That power is always present to the resistor no mater the knob setting of low, med, or high and that the ignition switch cuts that ground along with the off switch. Ground based circuits are a bummer for me to trouble shoot.

I hope someone sees this and can help us both:-laf

IIRC, there is a relay under the dash next to the brake light switch and buzzer..... It supplies power to the resistor, which in turn, goes to the fan... ... I may have that confused with the 2nd gen... I'll try to check it out later today.

There are several wire looms in these trucks, did you get a loom out of a truck or are you just trying to wire in the AC system from the NON-cooling system? There are 3 for the '91 that I've seen.

I have a donor truck I'm taking looms from but it is a 92 gas truck, there are different schematics for the gas and diesel. This project has taken so long I forget now what I used from where. I will look at the schematic again tonight side by side as I have copied them. Keep suggesting.

Here is where I'm at so far, Everything is going back together pretty well but it has been so long since I've taken it apart, I am going deep in the archives of the gray matter to try to get all correct fasteners in the right places. I can't wait to fire it up, I have a set of SDX injectors and a 3200 governor spring installed with the old Banks intercooler and turbo housing I had installed years ago. It went good before now it should fly. View attachment 84150
