Retractable running boards

Did a search, but couldn't find any information on the AMP Research retractable running boards. Any one have them, how do you like them, how hard were they to install? If you have any pictures it would be nice.

AMP steps are an expensive but well designed, well built, easily installed and robust upgrade for your truck. They are backed by excellent tech and customer support. The ones I installed on my 2005 truck 10 years ago continue to work flawlessly.

Love the AMP steps on my 2013. Almost 5 years old and working great. My mom when she was 92 could get into my 4 x 4 dually. Well worth it.

Had the dealer install mine when I bought my '06. I still love them as do my wife and other passengers. They still work great, 99.9% of the time. Over the 12 years, I've had several isolated instances where the pass. side step failed to deploy. Each time it's been very hot, in the 100's. Because it's so inconsistent I haven't been able diagnose it. I also learned that they get very slick when iced over in freezing rain.

Bestop also makes a almost identical version. I have had for 8 yrs now.
Over time pass side failed to deploy fully on occasion. (Open close door twice and all good).
Investigated further one day by switching motors side to side. The occasional 1/2 deployment moved with motor. It is however much more occasional and I have not yet replaced motor with new one I ordered .

The steps are hands down best mod I’ve ever done to a truck.

Bestop has a version that is activated by a magnet/proximity sensor that goes on center post. This version is much easier to install electrically and is the best least complicated install.
Note: you cannot retro fit one wiring style to the other, you buy one OR the other .

They are very well made and the hinge mechanism will outlast the truck.
