I have been there once to get prices and look at the unit. It seems to be put together well. The cover locking mechanism is kinda pointy and "digs" in when you clamp it. The "roll" of the cover takes up a bunch of room in the front of the bed. Two drain holes are installed into the bed for the drain tubes. The lady I talked to was real nice and they will offer significant discounts on scratch and dent or blemished units. If you have called them then you know the cost, they aren't cheap (about twice the cost of really good vinyl rollups).

I bought mine here last year:

Cost about $900, including shipping, for a long bed model. They also included an electric lock. By using that, and getting an electric tail gate lock, you can lock up the back end with your key fob.

I really like this cover. I had an all metal Roll N Lock on my 2001 that I had to keep putting silicon on the rails so it would slide smoothly. It was okay but the features of the Retrax are better and it still looks as good as new after a year of use (parked outside) here in the Northwest... ;)

paid just over 900 last year at truck gadgets, included the stake pocket cutouts, and i opted for the tailgate gasket instead of the electric lock. i love it, very easy to install and looks great. if i had to do it again i think i would go for an easily removable 4 panel cover, but i still stand by the retrax.

I can't find the receipt for mine, but purchased it online for about $913 if my memory is correct. It showed up with 2 small dents. I don't believe they package these well enough for the abuse UPS give them. The box did look destroyed but my wife already signed for it so..... just accepted it. Dents were small with one on the top plate which I was able to hammer back flat with two pieces of wood.

Once installed it looks and operates perfect!!!! Highly recommend this cover to anyone interested!!!

Oh - I just remembered one small problem I had during the winter months. When it gets cold the locking mechanism will freeze up. Water gets into the lock during the day (black cover heats up in the sun) which freezes at night and you won't be able to open it. There is a plastic cover which is suppose to protect the mechanism but it doesn't work... water still makes it way into the lock. THere were a few times I had to crawl in to the bed to get stuff out as there was no way to free up the lock thus being able to slide the cover forward. I guess a hair dryer would have worked but I was out ice fishing that day and... . you get the picture!

I've been considering this cover also. I'd like to see one first though. I'm concerned about scratches on the plastic - Lexan/polycarbonate is very prone to scratching.

RJOL, are you coming across the pond anytime in the near future?

I just bought the pace edwards roll up cover with their clamp kit and got it for 576 to my door . Kind of a pain in the butt to put on but I got it working and really like it now.

No trips planned up your way... That being said... I agree with you that this cover could be scratched, but I think any cover, except the soft tops would be prone to this. I don't usually put things on top the cover so mine seems to be holding up very well. Haven't noticed scratches from normal use. The only problem I had with mine is that I set a can of acetone down on the front box cover and it left a white ring where the base of the can sat. I just used some black spray paint to fix that but I don't recommend getting any solvents on it... :D

I've got the Roll 'n Lock right now, and the top has stayed rather nice - 'cept for some fading which was my fault for not putting any protectant on it. The Roll 'n Lock doesnt seal as well as I would have liked - and it seems as though Retrax makes some strong statments about sealing.

I don't treat mine and after a year is still looks pretty good. Also, I've owned both the Roll N Lock and the Retrax. The Retrax is much better at keeping things dry, but there are some small leaks around the tailgate. If you absolutely have to have it bone dry, you better put plastic over your load... :D

I agree - I'm not looking for bone dry - just somewhere in between a regular soft "snap" style (my extang was great for sealing) and the foot wide path on each side that I need to be concerned about with the RNL.
