Terry, Thanks for the good news. WHAT IS the Dodge site address? I wonder why they did this retro-active on these trucks? I am about out of warranty (34,500mi) on the body but the powertrain extension is good.

THanks , Chris:)

SO, I have a 2001. 5 and I bought it in June 2001, if I understand this instead of the 3/36 basic warranty and the 5/100,000 Cummins warranty I received, I now have the 7/100,000 Powertrain Pledge. Can someone explain the Powertrain Pledge? SNOKING - Heading down to read manual in truck!!!!!!!!!!

I think you guys are getting your hopes up for nothing. I don't see anywhere that says it's "retroactive". There was a 7/100K warranty that was given shortly after I purchased mine in August 2001. It clearly states that this change is only for vehicles purchased on or after July 9th 2002.

"On July 8th, the Chrysler Group of DaimlerChrysler announced new warranty coverages applicable on 2003 model year vehicles, and 2001-2002 model year vehicles sold new on or after July 9th, 2002. "

I see no where that it says those of us with the plain 3/36, 5/100 warranty has changed.

Snow King,

I think thats just their way of saying that anything purchased prior to that remains the same as there was a 7/100K power train warranty going on at that time. It clearly says that the "CHANGE" is to trucks purchased after July 9th 2002.

so i bought my truck on july 18th '02 does this mean i really have a 100k powertrain warranty now. I was only told i have a 7/70k warranty on powertrain. This isn't that big of deal anyways because the cummins is covered to 100k anyways. I don't see why DC would extend warranties on older vehicles such as 01's

Regarding 2001's and 2002's

cummins cowboy

It says those sold new on or after July 9th, 2002 have the new 7/70k Powertrain Warranty.

It does not say these "did", it says "will" receive.

I will call DC today.

Just got off the phone with DC Warranty People. They claim that there is an error in this document. The Powertrain Pledge started on Nov 1st, 2001 and this will NOT apply to vehicles sold before that date. So we are SOL on this. I told him it is not what it says and he said they would correct it. I am going to go see my salesman (who is now the General Manager) with a copy of this later today and write a letter to DC.

So now I'm confused. I have a 2001, purchased new in March 2000. I thought they came with a 100,000 mile power train warranty??

Thanks BV! Hope to get this straightened out. Chris

Snow King, Keep us posted on this. They shouldn't be able to not include some 2001's. I purchaced mine in sept 2000. If I can help in any way let me know.

(DC) GEE,SORRY, WE MADE A MISTAKE ON THIS DOCUMENT.  What a bunch of a... holes

Come on guys... . it clearly states who is covered and it's no one prior to July 9th 2002. Everyone prior to that stays the same. You guys are trying to add meaning to something that clearly isn't there. Snow King, you're wasting your time writing everyone as there is no mistake in that document. Could they have clarified it a bit more for those that like to read between the lines? Sure but that doesn't change the fact that the letter is correct as it stands. You have to read the whole document, don't just pick and chose one little piece like you're doing. It starts by telling what the document is about. That last part you keep pointing out when taken with the rest of the document just says that the guys prior have the warranty that was in effect at that time.

"On July 8th, the Chrysler Group of DaimlerChrysler announced new warranty coverages applicable on 2003 model year vehicles, and 2001-2002 model year vehicles sold new on or after July 9th, 2002. "

OK, here is Joe's response:

"The way it is stated, I can see how you might be let to believe that your vehicle would be covered for the 7/100. They came out with the 7/100,000 powertrain pledge around the first of this year. They are referring to 01 and 02 vehicles sold during that time frame, but not after the 9th of July. The difference is that the 7/100 is a pledge and is non transferrable. The 7/70 is a warranty and actually goes with the vehicle regardless of the owner.

I hope this sheds some light on the situation, but feel free to call for further explanation.

Glad you are enjoying your vehicle. Let me know if you ever have any automotive questions, I'm here to help.

I had my truck in the shop this week for a little warranty work, so I showed them the info from the DC website. I got the same answer that Snow King got - the 7/100 only goes back to November 1, 2001 (or was that 2000) - although that's not exactly what it says... oh well. :(

Today DC removed the statement about 2001 and 2000 sold before July 9, 2002 getting the Powertrain Pledge. SNOKING

Purchased in July of 2000 my truck had a 3 year 36000 bumper to bumper with road side assist, The drive train had a 5 year 100000 mile warranty. For a considerable amount of cashola my 01 Ram has a 5 year 100000 mile $50. 00 deductible bumper to bumper warranty transferable. You didn't pay extra you don't get extra, you get exactly what your owners manual states. That from the words of my dealer. Only exception is falling into the incentive program. (7/70000 $50. 00 deductible transferable)
