I've discovered a fuel leak. I havent actually saw it, but I now have 64K miles on the truck, so I'm betting it's the fuel return line.
Question is, what size and length is this line? I'm going to go to Mercedes for this (reccomended on this page) but I do not want to buy a bunch extra, or the wrong size.
BTW I owned a few M-B's and I'm prepared.
Thanks Eric

Update:
The SAE J30R7 was not easy to find, but I now have it. It was all of . 78 a foot.
I spent over an hour under my truck today, but cannot find the fuel leak. It IS leaking fuel though...
When the fuel return line exits my overflow valve, it runs all the way to the rear of the engine an a one peice steel line.
I got under the truck and traced out where the supply and return run along the frame,(becomes rubber) but there is no trace of a leak there??
I have a light mist of fuel on the steel return line where it runs between the fuel inj pump, and engine block/intake manifold area.
I have not detected any high pressure leaks.
Can anybody shed some light on where this may be leaking from?
Eric
PS I idled for an hour today (helping a stranded motorist) and before I left, there was a 6" dia puddle under the truck.
This side of my truck is extremely crowded. (dam ABS) Any help is appreciated.

Patriot,
The leak from my faulty return line was a slow one at first. It would make puddles where it leaked overnight, but nothing you could really see. There was too much fuel mist under the hood and n the engine so I dried everything off and started it again. It was easier to find that way. I ran my hand along the rubber line and could feel the bad spot.

Tim, what I was saying is, there is no rubber line until way past where my truck is leaking. (down at the frame next to the bellhousing)
Eric

I cleaned the area off real thorough today. It's leaking at the first bracket out of the overflow valve. (cracked at the weld?)
This is between the intake manifold, and inj pump. Is this where the rubber line is on others? Mine is steel.
I had the dealers parts dept. print up the page this part is on. There is a second bracket and screw, but I cant see it on the truck.
The crossover (proper name?) will have to come off to remove this, even to get to the bracket bolt that I can see.
The part is $65. 00. (steel line) For this price, I dont want the dealer to do it even though I cant see why it wouldnt be warranteed.
illflem, where youre describing your leak is too far back on the truck. Even the line by the bellhousing is too far back, and that's the first place mine has rubber in it. My leak is up where you remove the plug in the intake for the turbo boost gauge. I dont think the fuel could travel forward and up that far. But thanks for mentioning it. #ad

Eric,it's probably leaking at the hose above the bell housing but running down the line to where you see it. On my 3500 the drip was about a foot ahead of the tank by the frame, the leak was on top of the bell housing though.
