Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) return valve

the spring pressure got weak on my return from the injection pump the other week coming home from Connecticut and that thing got louder. it really started rattling when idling and just above . It smoothed out though at about 1200 rpm. I just gave it a little stretch before I get a new one , that stretch brought the decibel level down considerably , strange as it sounds . Why do you think it would be noisier with low pump pressure ?

Not enough fuel getting to injectors/cylinders. Poor burn in cylinders.
