Having traced wiring, I have come to the conclusion that my reverse lamps are not working due to a bad transmission switch. Has anyone had to replace theirs? And if so, how difficult is it and is there a part number handy out there? I have flood lights mounted on my frame rail for real illumination to the rear of the truck at night, but in respect to originality, I would like the factory reverse lamps to work properly. BTW: Getrag...

Thanks for any input.

I'm sure this will be no help: is the switch plugged in at the transmission? Correct bulbs installed and sure they work- ie jumper the plug to the switch?

In my 91, I was going to have to drop the transmission crossmember, lower the transmission, and go through some hoopla to get the switch changed. So, I just cut the wires, routed them into the cab (had to add some extensions) to a switch, and VIOLA, I have backup lights again.

Thanks guys. I think I have tried juming the switch wires, but I have slept many times since then  , so I will try it again. If that doesn't work... heck with originality!

My lights don't work either. I looked at the switch with the truck on a rack, and it looks like it'd be hard to get out even with the truck in the air. I jumped mine at the switch plug, so I know it's the switch. Just haven't got around to buying one. Napa carries them, but the store near me didn't have one when I stopped in last time.
