I used the wiring diagram above but included a diode on each "hot" feed. That way your back up lights (tailight mounted ) won't come on when you activate you auxillaries. I use this set up with extra lights mounted to the cross member from the tow hitch. That way I can light up the ground when I am parked and not blind myself when looking back at the truck such as when hooking up a boat.
 
I ended up buying a set of driving lights at the local O'Riley Auto parts store that fit between the tow bar and the bumper. Very low profile and well protected. The best part of the lights is that they are wireless. You get a small remote that you can put on your key chain. I keep mine in the console. This worked great because you do not have to tie into the factory wiring. 1 ground, 1 power hooked to the battery, thats it. About $40. 00 and I am very happy with them. Extremely bright and they look great.
