Attention: TDR Forum Junkies 
On my 97 I made the mistake of cleaning the steering wheel center pad/air bag cover with alcohol. Now it's a sticky mess. It appears the alcohol softened the plastic or vinyl and left it tacky. I have it covered with a shop rag but that raises questions with folks and police and the highway patrol. Anyway, I went over to the local dodge part dealer and he quoted a price of $700 to replace it because it is listed all as one airbag unit!! I about fell over. I can buy a lot of shop rags and answer a lot of questions for $700!!! Does anyone have an idea as to where to get just the cover for the airbag? I may start looking in the salvage yards next week.
On another matter, I had the parts man check for the recall on the throttle linkage. He said it hadn't been done on my pickup (which I could have told him). I asked if he would get the parts for me which I would pay for and I would install them. He said he couldn't do that as the parts had to be installed by the service tech. All this was while he was writing up the parts order. I told him that no one works on my truck except me at which time he tore up the order ticket and I left.
Would anyone know what parts are involved with the throttle linkage recall on a 97 12 valve?
