My apologies to all as I assume this issue has been beaten to death. . at least 100 times. Never the less, my search within the archives hasn't completely answered my question. Maybe the issue stems from lack of comprehension :-laf who knows. . maybe I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill.

As the owner of a 98. 5 24v with oversized tires (285's). . I have a different need for a mystery switch. During the snowy winter months, switching out of overdrive is not enough. All is well in 3rd gear "unlocked", but in short order the transmission goes into lock-up mode. Causing everything from bucking (lock/unlock/lock) to engine RPMs only above idle at that speed. Seems everyone in front of me likes to drive at a speed where 3rd gear lock-up is too much. . and 2nd gear is too little. Bottom line, if I could keep the transmission from going into lock-up in 3rd gear. . Winter travels would be greatly improved. While I'm at it, I'll install a two position switch to take advantage of the lock-up mode as well.

Thanks,

MLS
