RF in Brake Controller

Hello All: I am currently looking to put my first brake controller in my 98 CTD. I am also a ham radio operator and do operate in my truck. I have heard stories about getting rf in the brake controller and was wondering if anyone here might have some fixes. Will be pulling a 26' trailer later next month.

I haven't had any trouble with 2 meters (as much as 75 W, but usually around 25-30W) and the Prodigy brake controller by Tekonsha. I ran separate 10 ga. wires directly from the battery in the last truck, but I'm still running off the accessory power port in this one. I haven't run HF or 6m, however.

Thanks for the reply Chip. I run 2 meters along with HF. Have a screwdriver antenna on the front and run a little over 600 watts so just a little worried. Have a good instalation on the HF rig and antenna and no problems getting into anything else, just wondering what is going to happen when I install whatever controller I get.

You might try an old style hydraulic actuated control if you are really worried. I am not a ham but I have used the hydraulic type on a stock 23ft stock trailer and they work well. I have both. I had to put the Podigy controler in another truck cause you can't by the older style any more. Don't have any idea why. I am sorry but I just pitched one that I had off a parts truck.
