Rhino Liners

I'm interested in getting a Rhino sprayed-on liner for my Y2K. Does anyone have experience with this brand of liner? Do they hold up to their claims? I intend to keep this truck for a long time and want to keep it in good shape.

Hey JJy2k,

I'am a Electrician so I'am on alot of job sites. I see alot of guys with Rhino Linings. It is a very nice product. It will run you about 450. 00 to 500. 00 depending on size of bed. I'am planning on getting my truck done when the weather gets a little better. That price is out here in jersey it may be a bit more or less by you. good luck with what ever you choose. I think you will be happy with RL its repairable if it gets damage.

I bought a 96 4x4 new and had the bed Rhino lined. Like yourself, I tend to keep things very long and wanted the piece of mine versus bedliners, which over time just appear to rattle loose and fall apart. If memory serves me correctly, I paid about $400, all black (standard) including spraying up to the rails. Liner living up to their claims and after 3 years still looks and feels like new. I would certainly recommend Rhino if, and only if, you can stomach the initial expense. Like I said earlier, I have a track record of keeping vehicles an average of 15 years. Good luck.

I Rhinoed my 95 V-10. What an excellent bed liner. Thick, quiet, things don't slide & you can't chip it. I had a Dimond Liner sprayed in my 96 Money Sink. Its not quite as thick & is more 'metallic' or 'ceramic'. The Rhino was $450 in Sac & the Diamond Liner was $300 in Reno. I'd do the Rhino, even for more money.

If you have a 5th wheel hitch, you'll have to remove the plates that bolt to the bed. Get them to spray them at the same time. Tons better than paint that chips & rusts!

Thanks guys - I appreciate your input. I do keep my vehicles a long time and get my money's worth out of them. I bought a '72 Land Cruiser new, drove it 17 years, restored it and sold it for more than I paid for it. My wife says I need to keep the Dodge Cummins until the wheels fall off - then put them back on and go again. I don't have a problem with that except I don't want the wheels to fall off! I'm sure the Rhino Liner will help keep the truck looking nice for a long time. I have located a dealer nearby who will do the job when I am ready.

Just thought I might say I have Line-X in both Rams, and I love it, it is realy hard to scratch or chip this stuff and it came with a lifetime waranty. The only thing I did that chipped a little 1/8" hole on the tailgate was a 2,000 pound steel UPS frame, but even then it did not ding or scratch under the liner. They fixed it aat no charge.

i just had a line-x done , i like the looks of it beter than the rhino liner and it doesn't seem a spongy as rhinos i've seen , and it was almost 100 cheaper to boot , but of course the guy just upped his price , dumb move in my opinion , i have heard that the rhinos fade easier/faster ????

I had a Gatorback bedliner sprayed in mine as soon as I got it home. Best $300 I ever spent. I liked it so much, I even had a light grey one sprayed on the floor of my center console fishing boat (after installing a new floor). I am sure you will be happy with your choice. :smile:

Just had a Line-X sprayed in the test rig, for a product review I am doing on a toolbox and tank combo. It is REALLY nice. I looked at several before making the choice to go with the Line-X, but I liked the look and feel of the Line-X better. I had it sprayed over the rail and down to the break line on the box. Got that idea from John Livingstone's truck at the TDR Nats. last year.

I have had 2 trucks done with Arma Coating which is the same stuff as Line-X. It was about $50 cheaper but that was the only difference I could see - Both have lifetime warranty.

I got the Rhino sprayed in my truck . I got over the rail. About two inches down the side. It looks and works great. I looked at 3 or 4 types. It was 400. 00 dollors over the rail. I all ways keep my trucks a long time also. That rhino makes things not slide around so bad. I told my wife you can not slide off the tail gate anymore. She went to get out of the back of the truck she did not slide. She fell face first on the concrete drive way. That hurt! It cost about 7,000 dollors so far. She is better now . Everyone watch those spray in bedliners!

I had the Line-x done two days after I bought the truck. I liked the fact that it was the only one that was sprayed hot. I will never, ever buy a drop in again! The Rhino lining has been known to fade, but I heard that they had solved that problem. Even if it did fade, I would take it any day over a drop in.

Hi you guys, I have the Rhino liner and I can tell you from experience that it is the fastest liner of all, hands down. More horsepower throughout the range! I recommend it highly. It even improved my mileage!!!

Seriously, I would do it again. I haul (hauled) razor blades around before I became a professional diesel hot rodder. I used to carry sheetmetal duct sections to the job. This stuff is nasty on the bed but the Rhino is tough. It did fade and I hit it with a product like turtle wax wet look tire spiffener, woo hoo... cool. Another product is "Back to Black". If you have a shell on your bed you will not likely have the fade that I do as I propose it's the UV that causes the problem.

I got a Rhino about 15 months ago, in black at the recommendation of the shop. Just as Rhino seems to be the "industry standard" for comparison, most of the liners are bought in black. Here in the "UV capital" Las Vegas, I have gotten some fading, but the liner is working very well and stuff really does not slide around much at all. If I were doing it again, I believe I would pick Rhino again, but probably a medium gray like the interior to show fading less. Not that the fading looks bad, and as others posted, the black can be rejuvenated somewhat. The technology of color and the type of polymer is pretty standard by now, I suppose. There is probably some difference between good and bad dealers/installers, so check that out.

I've got arma-tuff and it is slipppppppery as hell. I liked my rhino, but I didn't do it in my RAM cause when they did it in my Chevy it was full of runs on the sides. When i took it back they gave me a bottle of bed rejuvenator and said that was as good as it gets. I don't know, sometimes i feel like my hands are super glued to my ankles. I travel over 30,000 miles a year with a bed full of HD parts doing the rally circut and have managed to wear thru the arma-tuff in a couple of places. They have a great finnish with arma-tuff if that is what you need. Happy Trails

I went to look at liners today and have decided to go with the Line-X. The dealer here in Dallas had samples of the other brands and the Line-X seems to be the most "factory" like. I was very impressed with the quality of the work. I have a friend who has the Rhino and it has faded. Time will tell with the Line-X.

Just today talked to a local "coating " outfit who had an add about bed coating but no reference to any ot the usual such as Rino or Line-X.
When I asked about differences, they said they were 100% polyurea not like those majors who all were only PART polyurea and who were mostly a less desirable polyurethane. They claim the polyurea is superior to the polyurethane or the mixes.

The are a "hot" application and otherwise sounded the same. They gave me a reference - a local oil distributor. I went to see them and looked at one of the trucks they use to deliver oil products including 55 gal drums of such products. The liner had been in this truck three years and I could see no blemishes in it all, including the tail gate which the guy said had had many 55 gal drums dragged across it.

I had never heard of this product difference. Wondered if any of you know whether there is a sigificance difference.
Any of you know any thing about this. On the internet I found one company (magno coating I believe) that touted the polyurea superiority.

I had one in my last truck for 4 years and have also installed one on my y2k truck. I love them. they last real well. they do fade out a little and the shiny coating will get a little dull.
