I sprayed my rocker panels with black armorthane approx 3 years ago when we still owned a franchise. It still looks great and the truck has spent half its life on gravel. It is similar to Steve's.

My wife had her 03 done with armacoat within a week.

We get a lot of possitive comments and I know that the 01 would have serious damage by now if it wasn't coated.

I was one of the first on this site to do this to my rig, right after I got it. I used Line-X, then had it painted to match the truck. I strongly recommend doing this; the only way resale would be affected is if you used something that either could not be painted or didn't have a color in it. In other words, Line-X, Armacoat (sp?), or something similar would look good, there are something coatings that would look cheesy.

I'll post a pic soon. Anyone interested in seeing an entire F250 coated with Armacoat, olive drab in color? :) I'll post that too... .

Do it, get it done right, you'll love it.

Well it's been a few years and wondering everyone who did this what their opinion is.

I'am really interested in Gary's Rust-oleum. Are you still out there?

I used permatech and it's what I'd recommend because they are the only bed liner company that warranties against fading. I had mine done 3 years ago and it looks exactly like it did the day it was sprayed on and my truck is rarely ever parked inside. Our roads around here are graveled twice a year and my truck seems to be able to pick up every rock that gets within 3 feet of it and pitch it at the body. I used to repair 30-40 rock chips a month on my rocker panels and around my wheel wells. Since I had the rockers and inside the wheel wells sprayed I haven't had to fix a single one. Any time I'm at an event I have at least 5-10 people come up and ask me about it. I wouldn't hesitate for a millisecond to do it again when I get another truck, would be one of the first things I had done. Here's the original thread on it and some pictures - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5704 . As far as how high you can see in the pics I went right to the body line - same height as the two tone factory paint job. I also pulled my wheel liners and had the inside of the wheel wells sprayed as you can see in the pics. IMO that's important because the lip of the wheel well was where I got a lot of chips. Also the wheel well liner had worn through the paint in the front an area about 5 inches around and it had started to corrode. Every truck I've seen with the wheel well liners out has that same spot rubbed down to bare metal - mine now has bed liner material there.

That looks very close to a product that is sprayed here locally . They call thiers Bullhide

I almost had my brand new 2006 done... . but was going to cost more than I cared to pay. Figured after it is chipped up a few years from now I might do it since they have to grind the paint to roughen up the surface before spraying.

My installer said that he has done a few but pretty much has to tape off the entire truck to prevent overspray and takes a lot more work... . but works well. So far my Line-X bed liner is great.

Durabak

I DID IT MY SELF ON MY 04. 5 PRIOR TO SELLING THE TRUCK IT COST ME ABOUT 125. 00 AND 5 HOURS ON A WEEKEND. GARAGE AND 4 HOURS CURE TIME. THIS IS THE SECOND TRUCK I HAVE USED DURABAK ON ALOT OF COLORS AND 2 TEXTURES AND ITS REALLY CHEAP I HAVE USED THIS ON MY HOUSE AND ON MY TRAILER. GOOD STUFF. I JUST TAPED OFF ALONG THE ROCKER PANELS CONTOUR LINE THAT RUNS THE LENGTH OF THE TRUCK.

I HAD PICS POSTED BUT NOT ANYMORE DUE TO SELLING AND GETTING A DIFFERENT TRUCK.

DO A SEARCH FOR DURABAK. I THINK ITS NONSLIPCOATINGS. COM CANT REMEMBER. THEY HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS

HOPE THIS WILL SAVE YOU SOME MONEY.

See reader's rigs gallery for pictures. I don't have any good close-ups but the picture with the MINI shoudl give you the idea. I had mine sprayed the same time as the bed for an extra $200. Mine is a little lower than a lot of the ones I've seen on this thread. I really like the way it looks and it has been serving its purpose well.

John
