Has anyone had Rhinolining installed on your truck down on the lower paint break to protect against rock chips. I had my 01 done today with the color match product they offer the color matchea perfect but when picked it up it looked good but when i got home it already had rock chips and was peeling off. Needless to say I am not very happy. I called the shop that sprayed it on they said they had never had any problems but they would take care of it. I just wondered if anyone else has had any xperience whith this product . This is used as a bed liner will it stand up to a toolbox being tossed in the back dont think so.

I've had it as a bedliner in two trucks for a total of 5 years and it's the toughest stuff I ever saw. I throw all sorts of stuff in there and to date don't even have so much as a mark in either. I love it. I have heard that some folks who install it don't do to good of a job and heard some of those trucks have some problems. Ya just have to make sure your guy is a perfectionist at what he does, mine is!

Bubbling & Peeling Rhino liner

I had a similar problem with mine shortly after it was sprayed in 6 years ago. The shop owner told me it was some sort of a chemical reaction between the prepped metal, and the material. It caused numerous bubbles and peeling along the inside walls of the bed. The shopowner stood behind his installation and repaired it as soon as I was able to work out scheduling an appointment to repair it. Also he sprayed my toprails at a reduced price, to help make up for the inconvenience and resprayed the bottom to near double normal thickness. I've not had a single problem since. Thumbs up to Rhino Linings of Nashville!

Dealer experience?

SHarris:

The material must be just the right temp, the landing zone must be prepared properly, and most importantly, the person applying it MUST know what they are doing. I saw MANY poorly appled Rhino liners in other's vehicles before I found an experienced dealer and had a Line-X installed :D I wish you the best of luck with your situation!

did you get actual Rhino liner or a knockoff?

regardless, if it is peeling, it was probably not preped right. take it back and they should stand behind it.

just be careful, when getting repairs, each time you get a repair you add more thickness (build up) to the product. :D

I had the rhino lining done to my truck bed and over ther rails. I was a great job and has been through heck and back. It is really one tuff product. :) The quality of the installation is the key to to product. If you have a lousy installer, then you have a lousy job and it will peel. Look for a good installer and ask for references on previous jobs. My was done on my truck even before I picked it up a the dealership. The only thing that has remove any of the rubber? is carbide tipped ditch trenchers and 2000 lbs slide in camper with rock wedged inbetween camper and bed. That stuff is absolultely fantastic. My is black color also. ;)

I had the Rhino installed over the rail and I love the stuff. It is very durable and has held up extremely well. I had also inquired about doing the rockers at the same time but the owner told me that it was a very labor intensive job. He quoted an addtional $800 to properly prep and apply. Be sure to get this resolved properly as I have heard of water sliding down between the panels and the coating and actually causing the panels to rust out.

Needless to say, I am going to wait until mine are properly banged up before I take such measures. Good luck.

P. S. You can't just spray the coatings over the paint. It has to be thoroughly sanded first. Really hurts to watch them do it to a new truck!
