I got my new TD Ram just last week. Everything but Leather Seats and Side Air Bags. Tomorrow I plan to take my truck to Columbus, Oh for the Rhino. Its been a toss up between Rhino and Line-X. Anyone have any pro or con statements on either one???? I can still change my mind.

Do your truck and yourself a favor put a Line X in it. I had mine installed at the Line X dealer on Brice Road right at I70. My brother in law had a Rhino done locally in Columbus and hated it. It was not installed right and the dealer did nothing to help. BTW, the Line X liner warranty is with the manufacturer unlike Rhino where the warranty is with the dealer that installed it. Give them a call 614-751-8066.

I am very pleased with my rhino. Due to its composition i believe it has better skid resistance and it is flexable (lower risk of chipping or cracking) not hard like the line-x. I would recommend researching the place doing the installation and remember it will take about 48 hours for the rhino to cure (the line-x cures in about 5 minutes).

I realy like the Line-X job I got, check out my pics in the readers rigs.

I got it done over the rail, and rocker panels. The job the Dealer did on the rocker panels is so good it looks exactly like a factor two tone paint job. I dont hear the rocks clanking anymore :)

Line-X is a harder compound that Rhino. You won't be able to scratch the Line-X as easy, but since it is so hard it can chip easier. Line-X tends to be more brittle, Rhino is a softer, rubber-like compound. I have a Rhino, and I looked hard at the Line-X. The Rhino grips stuff better, things don't slide around as much. Basically, it all comes down to two things: What you like and how talened the guy running the gun is. No matter which product you choose, the actual bedliner you drive away with is only as good as the guy spraying it. Go to each shop, talk to the guy who shoots it, and look at some of his work. I have seen good and bad examples of both Rhino and Line-X installs. Do some homework, and consider not only the product (because they are both good) but the talent installing it. The only thing I have noticed about Rhino is that if you drag a lot of heavy things in and out of your truck, the abrasion will wear on the Rhino more than a Line-X. Conversely, the Rhino will take a hit and be fine, whereas the Line-X is more likely to chip and separate from the metal when dented. Good luck with your decision.

0We'll see how it does for curing (hardening up under UV . . . but I had the Line-X done last week. The guys in the shop took a lot of pride in their work (counts for a lot with me), and Line-X seems to rely on pliability instead of grit for the non-slide factor.

Can ya tell I'm happy? :D

Linex with the uv protection. My son has rhino and it looks like blisters, I have linex and could not be happier! Just to say he ain't a smart boy, just uninforned at the time.

You could always go the Bed Rug route and avoid any of the install problems from either Rhino or Line-X, the Bed Rug is very nice, easy to clean and very easy on the old knees when you have to clinb into the bed and do something.

I had Line-X done on mine. It turned out alright, I've hauled some angle iron and it rubbed a groove in the coating. I think the experience of the installer is an important point. No matter what coating is used, a bad mix will hurt either of them. Mine was done over the top and down to the upper body line on the bed & tailgate. I use some 303 on it every so often and it makes it a deep black again.

I had Line-X done in mine in late July or Early Aug. last year. Coming home from Scheid I had a Sterling 10. 25 rear end drum to drum in my bed.

The only way you can tell it was back there was I have a turnover gooseneck with two holes for safety chain eye bolts. The dealer sprayed the whole plate except for the flipover hitch and drilled out the two holes, the pinon yoke scratched the Line-X right at the edge of one of the holes. Probably because it has less strenght there, but still to this day it looks awsome! Oo. Oo.

I had heard Rhino chipped way to easily so I stayed away from it, I'd do the Line-X again in a heartbeat. :D

I have the Line-X and I have dropped engine blocks, trans, and all kind of scrap and it has not pulled away when it has dented. The only time that it did chip was when we put a seat in the back and the guy helping me got in a hurry and dug the corner of the seat frame into the tailgate and it put a 1/4 chip in it. The Rhino in my opinion is to soft and most of them look like crap after a short while.

I'm a LINE-X dealer.

LINE-X and Rhino differ quite a bit. The biggest difference is that LINE-X contains polyurea and Rhino does not. Polyurea enhances the bedliner’s properties: 1. LINE-X's temperature tolerance is 250 degrees and Rhino's is 175. As the temperature of the bed approaches the temp tolerance, it loses its strength. 2. Polyurea keeps moisture out of the solution thus making a more dense and solid liner. Less moisture also means better adhesion. 3. Polyurea also makes for a tougher liner. The tear strength of LINE-X is 304 pounds per linear inch (pli). Rhino is 145 pli. 4. Polyurea sets up very fast, that's one reason why LINE-X goes on with heat and high pressure. LINE-X dries in about 4 seconds, so you get an even application throughout the bed. Rhino takes a minute or so to even gel, an hour or so to dry. Before it gels, gravity can pull the liner from the top ridges in to the low valleys. Rhino’s Tuff Stuff goes on cold/low pressure and thus has that “cottage cheese” or “rain on the windshield” look. LINE-X’s high heat/high pressure system gives it a very nice finished and more consistently applied texture, it’s sort of like an orange peel. The dealer can vary the texture from smooth to very rough. 5. Polyurea makes the liner more chemical resistant, especially to organic oils and solvents.

LINE-X gives you a written nationwide lifetime warranty (what's better than that?).

We had a customer who brought in his truck and wanted the Rhino taken out and LINE-X put in. We snapped a few pics first. (The Rhino is partially wet. )

I'll second the BedRug recommendation. I was all set to go with Line-X when I saw the BedRug displayed at a local truck accessory store. So far I feel it is my best accessory purchase. It is especially good when you have a truck cap and the bed never gets wet, but water, gas or oil will not damage a BedRug.

I bought mine for $279 online at the following site last month, but I see the price has now gone up to $309. Still well worth it, and cheaper than at the local stores.

My RHINO is now 5 years old. It sees day in and day out loading / dragging of items. Some days it's HEAVY (5,000 lbs of cabinet doors aughta shock ya) some days its just some slab , wood , dirt or tools. Without any uv protection and radical environmental swings it still looks mint Except

(where dodge once again struck with awesome engineering and has that raised spine at the beginning of the tailgate)

For two chunks taken out from my sled's carbide wear bars. I will take pics tomorrow and you can judge.

It's just my opinion but living here in Ohio I wouldn't want a bed rug. With our winters and open bed it looks like a piece of indoor outdoor carpet waiting to rust out your bed. Like I said it's my opinion and I have no affiliation with Linex X but after a lot of searching I picked it based on real trucks and not salesmen's talk.

To Touch on theese points.

I have spilled Muriatic acid (Hydrochloric acid @ 18%) and had not realized it for a few hours until I offloaded that section of the truck. It discolored the liner ever so slightly. HOURS WITH ACID  :-laf

Anyhow Yes the Rhino is "soft" and I found that to be a nice property. And Rhino also gives you a written LIFETIME warrantee as well (Mine is in my glovebox). As for the temperature rating ... I dunno I really don't But I did have a habbacci barbeque fired up and cooked on my tailgate and the gate was wicked hot when I noticed those wrinkly heat waves under the small inferno and that had to be more than just a couple hundered degrees. No ill effects again.

The rhino you show appears to be in severe neglect and looks as if it was improperly applied on that chevy in the first pic. The bed bolts look as if they were laid over. When Mine was done each bolt was removed then re installed so you can still get to them at later dates without chipping and grinding away at them.

line x all they way. i love mine even though the dealer was a hack. i have busted about 4 chips out of it all about the size of a dime. took it back and they filled it with jb weld and a thin layer of compound. not impressed. went to another dealer today to get 2 holes fixed and they rock. reason for the linex was i have to pull rolls of carpet out that weigh up to 500lbs. i prefer to slide things out of the bed when making dump runs too. i saw a thread like this a long time ago and it favored the rhino but it seems the times have changed.

btw- warrenty work was as hassle free as you can get:)

i dont know about anyone else but a bed rug doesnt sound like something you would want in a work truck ;)

Well I did it. Line-X it is! It was a 3 hour process and the Dealer answered all my concerns without any tap dancing. An extremely knowledgeable guy. He did a beautiful job. I'm sure I made the right decision but only time will tell. It is a nationwide warranty and if I have any problems whatsoever I"m to bring it back and he will do whatever it takes to make it right. I don't think I can be any happier right now. Definately going to recommend this guy to my friends. I even ended up with a Line-X ball cap. With your help I just got my $35 membership to TDR back in Knowledge shared. Thanks guys! Oh, The Line-X Dealer I used in Columbus is on Huntley Road.

Good decision Coursen. I've got line-x as well... but not only in the bed. On the front of the truck too. :D Check out the readers rigs to see. Later.

Colonel

I have had good luck with the Line-X too... I even had my toolbox done to include the inside bottom.

No problems or complaints.
