Oo.

Been reading lots on this forum and did a search but did not see any thing about spray in bed liners.

Just got a used '06 and the drop in liner is junk, moves around like crazy. So I am going to go with a spray in.

I talked to a Rhino place and Line-X place. Can you believe they both said they are the best and more durable than the other.

So I figured lets see what the real world says... ...

I have a Rhino Liner in my truck and love it. Its soft enough to keep things from sliding around, but hard enough it doesn't get chewed up. The ONLY downfall I've had is that it lost its gloss after about a year in the sun, but I got it for function, not looks. I imagine Linex will work just as well, but it would probably just come down to cost.

This is just my opinion.

My first truck with Rhino was a 99 Dodge Ram V10. I had the truck rhino'd a week after I had the truck. It the truck and the rhino lining, were both in good shape when I traded it in on my current 06 Ram CTD.

So, I did my current truck with Rhino also. I have no experience with Line-X.

I'm quite sure it's a great product also. Talk to the applicator, that will give you an impression of the quality of workmanship that you'll get. The manager most likely won't be the applicator.

Good luck.

Note: I have spilled gas and diesel on the rhino lining and no ill effects. Of course I wiped up the spills right away.

Hauling lots of firewood didn't seem to hurt it either.

I don't have a liner, but I had Line-x sprayed on the rocker panels of my truck. I am very happy with it, even dented in the rear driver corner and the line-x was pliable enough to form to the dent without cracking. I have a buddy with a rhino bedliner and it is nice except when the sun is beating down on it, then it tends to get soft. My line-x doesn't;t do that, but it is not in the bed either. Just my observation.

There are some differences in the compounds. From what I've heard, customer satisfaction has much more to do with the application and applicator than the compound itself. Find a shop that takes the time to do the right prep work.

I was thinking the two were close in quality but hopeing one had a slight edge over the other. I plan use the truck mainly for camping and then some light stuff, so I want it to be able to deal with wood being tossed in all the time and yet keep my rubbermaid bin from sliding around when I toss that in.

90% of the time I have a soft tonneau cover on it and looking at going to a cap in a year so the bed won't see much sun but I am going over the rail so if it fades that will kinda suck...

Bring on more info. For pricing the Rhino Hard Line is $440 but wants the truck for basically two days (noon-noon) and the Line-X is $495. but you only wait 2hrs and drive away.

Personally, I've seen more rhino liners showing wear than Line-X. But, of course, it somewhat depends on how it was applied and how its gets used. I think the Line-X is tougher, but stuff will slide around. If you want sticktion, go with rhino. Just make sure the shop has been run by the same folks for a while and been in business long term. Quality of installation is key.

FWIW: I've had Line-X in mine since early '01 and its just fine.

The line-x is a little more durable and won't fade. They both come with warranties so as long as it is done right who cares. If something happens to it or needs repaired it should be taken care of. Go with who you like.

Man what a steal. I have the ARMA bedliner which was bought out by Rhino and just to do the rocker panel on bed in front of the rear wheel, I was quoted 300 smackers.

never seen Rhino that doesn't look dry and chalky after a year or two in the sun... sorry, but if I bought a new $30-50k truck, I wouldn't want it to look all junky in a year or two!!!

I have Line-X in my current truck... done by the previous owner. It's only a couple years old, but it still looks nice and it has a lifetime warranty.

Permatech is the best product out there IMO. Too bad nobody in TX does it anymore :(

Hadn't heard that about Line-x. Their website is still up. Could it be just a local dealer went under? I had a Rhino Liner in my 94, a Diamond Liner in my 97, and a Line-x in my 06. The Line-x has some cuts and chunks missing from where my ATV ramp goes on the tailgate. The rest is fine. I did like the "sticktion" of the Rhino, and I never had the chalky appearance, but I had a shell. The Diamond Liner was harder than the Line-x, I think, but it held up well too. On the other hand, the only stuff I ever hauled around was camping gear and fire wood. Not a lot of blocks, rocks, and metal.

I dont know if you know this but Line X went out of business

News to me, pretty sure the local shop is still up and running here, if I get time I'll drive by tomorrow and see. I have Line-X in the '03 and plan on doing the '93 here soon, also had it in my old '97. Just be sure to get the UV protection with it when it gets shot. IMO, they are all pretty close in quality, mostly depends on prep.

Line X has not gone out of business. My brother-in-law is a dealer. I guess I should tell him to close his shop ;)

Rhino and line-X are both good, but as someone said, only as good as the installer. It's not as simple as some might think. I've helped do a few at my BIL's shop. Hard work, and takes time to do it right.

I have three trucks with bed liners.

4-year old rhino pretty chalky, but still does the job

3-year old Line-x not bad chalky, but not like new

1-year old line-x still looks like new

The line-x goes on at about 280 degrees, the rhino goes on cold. I don't know if this matters...

Some people like the rhino "bubble" finish, and some prefer line-x's "pebble" finish. It's up to you. They're both good. I happen to prefer Line-X.

I just had my truck done with the Line-X I liked the appearance over the Rhino. A friend had the Rhino done a couple of years ago in red and the color has faded badly. I purchased the Line-X Xtra which is not supposed to ever fade but only time will tell but currently it looks great. Mike

I've got 2 older trucks, both have Bradford flatbeds on them, one with Rhino and the other has the Line-X. The Line-X still looks like new, the Rhino is faded badly. I have had the Rhino back a couple of times for repairs. I throw a little of everything at the beds, wood-cement blocks-metals-you name it, an the Line-X takes it. The Rhino always seems to get chips, scratches, etc from the things the Line-X takes without a problem.

I have yet to do the bed on my 2006, but when I do it will be with the Line-X. Since I only use the 06 for pulling trailers and use the trailers for all the stuff I used to throw in my truck beds, I have procrastinated getting it done. I also have the Line-X done on a couple flatbeds with metal tops. Same results, the stuff just keeps taking a beating.

I have permatec, got done right here in Lubbock, TX. I've rhino liner before. Permatec place said it was the same as rhino it just had uv protection to stop the fade. Which is the only dislike I had for my rhino.
