225/19. 5 tires are similar to stock height. 245/19. 5 tires are about the same height at 285/17". tires. I have went through a set of 245 Hancooks and now have a set of 225 Michelins. I would strongly recomend the 225 Michelins for ride and wear.

"Any change in handling with the heavier wheels and tires?"

It takes more power to get 'em rolling and more braking to stop them. They like to grab the ruts in the road, at least 'til you get them broken in. They roll pretty easy and act like an extra heavy flywheel once you get them rolling. I got the center lugs on mine siped. They raise the truck by about 1. 75 inches. It's noticeable getting in and out of it.

Anyone who has purchased the Rickson Rims. . Are you aware of what the offset was on them? I asked Rickson for a quote for the Eliminators with a 265 G-159.

The reply I got back was:

" wanted to inform you that with the offset of the forged aluminum wheels that your wheel and tire package would stick out about ½” beyond your stock fenders on the 04 Dodge application. So you may want to consider fender flares or steel wheels that fir within the flares if local regulations warrant such actions, or if you’re concerned with keeping your paint clean. "

I think a few of you had aluminum and a few have the steel. Anyone know what their offset is? I wanted to go with the aluminum for weight and looks. They stated the steel rims have the correct offset and would not be an issue.

Bum me out... I wanted the eliminators, they look sweet. .

Maybe I need to look harder at the Alcoa aluminums?

I do not want the tire sticking out past the fender.

I purchased the eliminator 7. 5 with a 265 tire. The UPS site says they are scheduled for delivery on Monday. As soon as I get them on the truck, I'll take some pics with the offset in mind. The other pics I saw showed about 1/2" to 3/4" beyond the fender well. If it is a problem down the road, I'll install the MOPAR flares that come stock on the Power Wagon.

As far as the offset, I knew they were not the same as stock and would extend the tires beyond the stock fender. You can see other trucks with these wheels on the Rickson website in the Customer Truck section.

Unfortunately Alcoa does not make aluminum wheels for SRW trucks, even though their site might indicate otherwise... . I checked. The only place to get wheels is Brentz, Rickson or Vision.

The 2000-up Dodge single rear wheel trucks have a 1. 71" offset. Translation, running the forged aluminum wheels will cause the wheel & tire assembly to be pushed somewhat outboard and the tires will stick out about an inch beyond the wheel well.

However, with the steel wheels the offset is almost the same as your stock wheels.

I am starting to think the same way. . I like the look of the eliminators and only found 1 truck that had a decent angle to see the offset. I look forward to seeing some pictures if you can take them after you have rims mounted. Does anyone know the best place to check out the Mopar flares? Does anyone reading this know anyone that has the Mopar flares installed?

after thinking about this I am leaning towards the same thing as DPeltonen... 7. 5 Eliminators and 265/70-19. 5 tire. . I will ad the flares if needed.

Waiting to see some pictures if possible.

Been following the whole thing... . your truck looks great with the rims and tires! Have you noticed any difference in the ride and handling versus stock wheels and tires?

JPereira,

You will not need a leveling kit with the 225's. They will bolt on with no problems.

I have been running Rickson's on my truck for a little over a year and they have been great. I have 265/70/19. 5's These wheels and tires have been the best aftermarket option I have added to my truck.

I agree, I was just thinking yesterday that going to Ricksons was the best improvement of all.

Well I ordered, received and installed my Rickson Rims. I went with the Bridgestone r250F tire which is a highway tread. They are beautiful rims and the 265/70 tire fits well in the the wheel well. I have made a couple of drives today with the new tire and it feels good. It is definately firmer than the stock setup, but I am very happy with the ride. I had expected the ride to be harsher than it is with this heavy/stiff tire. One concern I have with the rim as I put the rim/tire on late last night is that the rim is loose around the center hub. I remember others stating that the Dodge rims are centered from the hub not the studs. The rims I just mounted are definately centered from the studs as I could move the rim prior to tightening the bolts.

Should I be concerned about this? Other Rickson users, were your rims tight around the hub? This will be a huge pain if these need to go back because of this. Thoughts and comments are appreciated.

If I remember correctly, mine are centered with the studs. It doesn't feel like it is out of balance does it? If not I would say it's fine.

Look's great by the way!

The truck seems to drive very well with the tire/rim combo. I can feel the bumps when hit but on the smooth pieces of road it is not shaking or bumpin around. With the tapered seat on the rims and tapered nuts I would think this rim is centered by the stud/nut. The stock rim fit very tight around the hubs and was why I was concerned more for when I load up or tow. Are they tight around the hub to help when loaded? I do not want to change them but if it is not how they are supposed to be then something needs to happen. I am going to ask Rickson about this to see what they tell me.

Thanks, Jeff

The truck center that mounted the tires on the rims balanced them. They used stick on weights on the inside of the rims. Yesterday afternoon I realized I had not checked the air pressure to see what the tires had in them. To my surprise they all had over 100lbs in them. I set the pressure at 80lb in the front and 70lbs in the rear. The only pressure I could find on the tires was a max load at 110lb psi. Do tires like this have a minimum pressure?

I think these tires are running very similar in feel to my stock tires when on a decent piece of road. I am sure the tread pattern of the r250f and the Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks are helping. On the highway around 70 It has a little bounce on certain bumps. I have the Rancho adjustables on 1 all the way around. I am going to try setting the front shocks on 2, then 3 to see if it helps.

Heather's recommendation

Heather recommended I go with the 245 Hankook tires and so that's what I did. I have been generally pleased, especially with the handling, which improved 100 percent. There is some "howl" or tire whine, but it's not objectionable. The 245s only increased the height 1", so there was no discernable difference in mpgs, probably because of the additional weight (141 lbs per corner).

If I had to do it over again I might go with 265s and aluminum wheels (many more $$$). However, the wider tires and offset would throw more mud/rain/snow/slush on the side of the truck, so it's a trade-off. But I have to say the painted steel wheels look great on the truck.

Someone mentioned snow. Yes, I got stuck once, but it was in 3' of snow on what looked like a 8 percent uphill grade. I'm not sure any tire would have pulled its way out of that situation. :{ :{ :{

Does Rickson offer an accessory kit to eliminate the factory center caps?? If I were to fork out the $$, the last thing I would want is the cheesy plastic center cover like they show in a majority of their pics. Not to be rude, but I would rather have some baby moons and some nice looking lug nuts, ya know?? Maybe that's just the chicken hauler coming out from inside me...
