I've installed my new Rickson wheels and tires on my 2001 2500 4X4 LBEC and they are great BUT along with the tires I bought a "black box" from Rickson that allows you to adjust the speedo to match the larger diameter tires. I did this using my GPS and it also APPEARS to work fine. BUT yesterday I was driving long showing 1/8 th tank of gas and 60 miles left to go on the trip computer and the truck just stopped running. I went and got 10 gallons more, tried the owner's manual restart drill without success. The lift pump is working as I bled the fuel filter and then could hear the pump refilling it. Had to have it towed in and being the weekend in NW Wyoming nothing will be done until Monday. It acts like it ran dry and will not reprime. (no warning lights prior to stop just a drop in RPMs , a brief surge and dead) So here's the question... does anyone know if the Rickson "black box"; 1. has any effect on the trip computer and 2. any effect on the other factory gauges?

I'd like to not get stuck being told the F. I. pump is bad if it's just an empty tank problem as the fix will not be done at a dealer (nearest one is 100+ miles away) and I just as soon avoid the usual fight trying to get Dodge to cover a warranty item that they didn't fix. Larry, The odometer adjustment box will have no effect on your trip computer IF you truely have the mph dialed in correctly, I am assuming that you have a set miles on your trip till you fill up? to help confirm the cheesy fuel level gauge, I would take your GPS on the next trip and compare its reading against your trip milage to confirm your adjustment .

But lets get your truck going, first off get the tank full of fuel as the higher the level is in there the better your lift pump will work then loosen the front 3 injector lines where they go into the head, now take and bump the starter to get the 30 second run on your pump, check your injector lines after each bump and when you get fuel to one tighten it down, then do this again until the front 3 lines are primed, now you should get the truck running, if not than you may need to pressurize the tank with air to assist. Let me know if ya need help and I will jump over the hill in the morning and lend a hand. If the L/P is dead let me know and I can call my Cummins dude in Riverton and pick up a new one on the way! Call if needed 307-876-2651

Cheers, Kevin
