I currently run 315/75R16s on the stock alum rims on my '00 2500 4wd w/4. 10s. The 315s rub on the control arms before full steering lock making my turning radius even worse than normal. I'm going to start towing a 36ft 5th wheel & am more than a little concerned about my lack of turning radius. I'm seriously considering the 19. 5" wheels as this appears to be the only way to get a tire that is ~35" tall but only 10" wide (265/70R19. 5) that isn't obnoxiously loud & has higher enough load rating. Does anybody run this combo? Is there a rubbing problem -either on the control arm or fender well? I don't use my truck off-road, have a CJ-7 for that, but will want M&S rated tires for going to Tahoe in the winter.

Brian,

I have the Rickson package 19. 5's on my 1997 2500 4 by 4. They wear the Bridgestone M 724 in 245/70 size. They're not exactly a M+S design, but more highway rib type. I'm sure Matt at Rickson can "steer" you in the right direction for a M+S design.

I'm super happy with the ride & handling, and the only funny thing, it's a little thing, is that I get an ever so slight amount of rub on the black inner fender liner on the drivers side when cranking it through the full turn. It's only noticable if you focus on it, and only when I have a load.

But I cannot say enough about load stability & overall roadability. You get a more commanding view (you're higher), and it feels like the semi-truck it almost is. Gone is the feeling I always got with the light duty 10 ply tires, of : Gosh I know I'm running at the edge of what these things were designed for, rubbing em down to bare nubs in no time flat.

I have about 15,000 on mine, with little or no visible wear in that time. I think they'll go 100, 000 no trouble. When you consider how long a properly maintained Cummins truck could last, it only makes sense to have the tire package at the same level of durability & strength.

Hope this helps, let me know how it goes for you.

Toyo M+S

I'm running Toyo Mz80's on my Ram (245/70R19. 5), and I love 'em! They are definitely very aggressive treads, so they don't wear all that well, but I never get stuck, and I live in tough terrain (mud & snow!):D No problems with wheel well liner or steering link rubbing with this size.

With about 10k on the tires, they are almost half-worn :( but that's what I would expect for this tread design. The ride is noisy, and steering is a bit slow. Next time, I would go with a compromise between this aggressive tread and an over-the-road pattern.
