Anyone use these? Do they work? I've got rats in my ceiling and gotta do something. Poison isn't working. All I get instead of black rat turd is green rat turd!

I had a racoon break into my attic a few years back. I put a radio up there and it was gone within the hour. Turn it up REAL HIGH!

I have my doubts that those electronic deals actually do anything.



But - I own/use two different types of them to help control the mice population. Both bought at the local TSC...

I can't say with any certainty that they're helping or hurting things... but by doing everything all together - it's working for us.



Getting the house sealed up the best you can with that hard expanding foam in a can should be step one. Step two is eliminating all food sources. Step three is poison - get some STRONG stuff in your case... those sound like tough buggers. TSC sells stuff that will kill them in one feeding. Most mice/rat poison out there just disturbs their digestive tract - by not allowing it to absorb water - they start to dry out, leave the house and die.



I think by doing all that and keeping up with it should help a lot. Our mice problem was pretty bad at one point... but now we only hear them in the attic every now and then. Now that we have the garage - they're getting in there too. Little buggers - time to put out more 'food' (poison) for 'em. :-laf

I've been using D-Con for years. I tried some other stuff this year and the rats stumbled out and died in the grass or were killed in the grass... . not good when you have dogs. With the D-Con you hardly ever find the remains.

Some of the other brands you would swear they were gettin fat on it, with D-Con it takes about two boxes and it's over.

Dad and I set a bunch of the green pellets out in the garage in a vain attempt to control the voles. The stuff all disappeared. Later I found it stashed away in various locations in the garage. I guess those pellets weren't very effective.

Seem the only thing that's cut down the mouse/vole population are the neighbor's cats. The mama "has sluttish tendencies". They've given away 6 cats/kittens, but still had nine running around. The only good thing about having that many hungry felines around is the rodent and bug population is quite a bit smaller this year. If a hawk or eagle moved in and decimated the cat population every week, I wouldn't be saddened. At least the neighbors finally figured out what was doing it and had all the cats spayed/tutored.

It is called the ratzapper. It packs a wallop, here's a quick rundown on how and why I bought one.



Was standing in line at the neighborhood hardware store and they had one on the counter as a display. What you were supposed to do was turn it on and place a screwdriver through the top to the electroplate and see an arc, which is supposed to kill the rat, mouse, squirrel, etc. Guy in front of me does not believe the little arc would hurt a mouse, so Barney Fife behind the counter dares him to touch the electroplate. So while Dumb is taunting Dumber, Dumber sticks his hand in there and lets out a loud scream and flings the zapper across the store, all while letting out a long stream of 4 letter words.



I asked Barney where I could find a new one in the store and picked one up. This thing is terrific, you don't even touch the dead rodent. Bait is a bit of Peanut Butter on a 1x1 piece of paper about the thickness of a crayon box, slid all the way to the back. I've had them literally climb over their dead buddy to get the the pb, only to meet the same demise.



I no longer have a rodent problem. This is the better mouse trap.
