Ride Quality

Recently I have noticed that the ride quality of my truck has deteriorated ie. shimmy on rough steets,bumps seem much more severe,in general a much looser feel to the truck. I would like some ideas on what needs to be relaced on the truck. This truck is a 96 4x4 extended cab three quarter ton.

Just a guess... but I'd say Track Bar. . maybe steering stabilizer too.

It seems as if a while back everyone was replacing lift pumps, calipers and now it's the track bar.



Get under the front lie on back have somone continually jerk the wheel left & right. Look at the top most bar attached to the r/side differential housing and the left side frame. On the left side there's a joint if theres any play replace it. I used the Moog unit beefier all around and lifetime warranty. About $185 I think. Do a search for MOOG and you'll see my post including the part number. sorry can't remember it of hand.



Could be shocks though, check them for oily residue and tightness - especially the top front. Also stabilizer shock (one that's horizontally mounted on drag link/frame).

I have an 01 2500 2wd and put a set of Ranchos 9000 on it. That made a huge difference in the ride. Haven't put a load on em yet.

Track bar, tie rod ends, ball joints, pitman arm, and steering box all need to be checked. They all are common failure items. The stock shocks were junk when they put them on, some good shocks will help a lot.
