I'm putting the Firestone RideRite's on and in the instructions the written and the drawings are a bit different. The picture shows the lower bracket wide side against the leaf spring, doesn't seem to fit that way, the narrow end does but is not a snug fir that they call for. Step 1 says use the side that fits most snugly, its not very snug but I would have to file or grind the slots on the bracket to get the larger end against the leafs. Anyone who has put these on is it or does it make any difference if I put the narrow end against the leaf springs even though it is not a "snug" fit as the say. Once tightened down with the supplied U Bolts it should stay in place.

I had the exact same problem and ground the WIDE side down. You'll end up with a sharp point at that end, dont try to leave a flat edge, it wont slip in behind the u-bolt. . Take a small amount off and check it a few times until it's snug or you need a channel lock to press it in.

Well guys I found the same thing that they didn't but up close the leaf spring, I just put it together that way and it's working just fine. Hope that helps.

I wanted mine to stay in place so I put them in BEHIND the u-bolts. Beleive it or not, there is a lot of movement relative to the axle and the frame back there :--)

I just spent an extra 30 minutes grinding down the big end so it looks like two sharp points, checking it and re-grinding until they fit in with resistence.

Mine went in but they are a snug fit, try tipping one side up and get the other side in then take a hammer & punch and you should be able to peck it into place without grinding.

Mine went in BEHIND the u-bolts WITHOUT any grinding. I did loosen up the u-bolts and re-torque them after slipping the brackect in BEHIND the u-bolts.
