I see local buses occasionally, but I don't ride them and didn't before this whole hoopla. It's probably been 20 years, or more, since I rode a bus that didn't have government plates... and those I only ride when I'm told.

I would ride a bus again. I grew up riding buses... 2hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening on a school bus. I rode city buses in San Antonio in the 60s and few times on Greyhound and Trailways buses. I hear and have seen on line they have WiFi, way more comfortable seats, not like airplanes. I rode busses in Europe, sightseeing and traveling. When stationed in DC, rode busses and subway... both great for going to congested areas. I EVEN got to drive a friends 45ft Prevost MH with 500HP Series 60 motor... very nice!

Cheers, Ron

Of course, the guy sitting next to you then didnt have chinese virus. Only the flu (or the plague)
Unless you plan on spending the rest of your life 6 feet away from everyone and everyone wears a mask, this is only one example of sitting next to someone. Planes, restaurants, sporting events, etc...

I thought this thread was interesting in that it only mentioned riding a bus... just as well asked does anyone ever plan on sitting next to someone. Now if you specified would you ride a bus NOW, I would say NO. But EVER, who knows. We travel in our RV a lot and might take a bus tour when this is all over.

Anyway, cheers, Ron

Well, I guess I should have specified city bus. I dont know what they are like where you live, but not the greatest place to be around here. My neighbor down the street works for the UofW and has taken the bus to work for the last 20 years. When I was talking to him the other day I noticed he had been driving his car. He said that the covid was the last straw for him. He's been accosted a few times, had to set very close to some that he wasnt sure if they would survive the trip, he said a guy once sat down right next to him and pooped his pants.
Yes, the covid will eventually become less of a nuisance. But just another reason not to ride the buss. BTW, taking a tour bus is not really apples and apples.

TractorRat,

It's too bad municipalities don't maintain city buses like ours. In the past 15 years, I've ridden San Antonio city buses twice for jury duty, which my county paid for. Buses were nice, clean, modern, and I sat by a young college student who was bright, energetic, and full of hope for the future. Sorry your friend had a bad experience. You have to admit since you didn't specify what kind of bus in the title or original post, there really isn't a basis for an apples to apples comment.

Again, this IS an interesting thread.

Cheers, Ron

Well, its not just my neighbor. There are stories just like that all over seattle. And its not new. It is not unusual to see someone shooting up on the bus around here. As far as not specifying at first. To be honest, if I made the same comment anywhere around here with no specification, everyone would have gotten my point. But I have to remind myself that the tdr is all over the country and things are different (some better, some much worst) than they are here. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

TR,
it's OK... my first reply was just a general reply about my experience riding busses, which I thought this thread was created for, sorry didn't pick up on the actual intent Even your clarification, I still was "on board":D with an answer. I just got a little more focused when you made the apples to apples comment, caught me off guard. No problems.;)

BTW, We were in Seattle in 2018 for a day and enjoyed it as part of our Western and North Western RV trip. Traffic sure does suck though between Seattle and Tacoma!

Catcha later, Ron

Out here on the Island there is no bus period, there is three ways to leave, take the Ferry, take my 28' Parker, my employer Sikorsky S-92A to work.;)
