Hey out there in ram land. I have a question, I want to run a turbo back 4" exhaust with rig style volocity stacks, and no muffler. Does anyone know where I could purchase this set up?
I live in Phx, AZ and if anyone lives here Know any muffler shops that could do it?
Thanks alot for your help.

azgearpro,

Let me tell ya what I have and see if this is what ya have in mind. Comin' off the turbo I have a Jardine 4" downpipe and straightpipe past the exhaust hanger under the cab. This goes into a piece of 4" flexpipe that runs to the front of my bed and hooks to a 90 degree elbow turned up through the bed. The elbow clamped to a 4" piece welded to the bottom of a 4" square pipe that runs across the front of my bed. On top of each end of the square pipe to 4" to 5" couplers are welded. Topped off with a pair of 5" stacks turned out at an anlge behind my headache rack. The square pipe was used because it was easier to weld the other pieces to, and it also has 2" legs that hold it off the bed. I don't have a direct picture of the system yet, but you can see what it looks like from the front and sides at the Readers Rigs page #6. Being welded to the bed it vibrates a little, but the flexpipe absorbs most of it. Take care and good luck. Let me know if ya have anymore questions.

Todd

Stacks are on the wish list for me too, but the ol' ball and chain give's 'em a big thumbs down. Maybe it's because I refer to those weather caps that flap with the exhaust as "mother-in-law tongues" #ad

Now that's funny. I wonder how old that one is. Mind if I steal that one? I promise I'll be brutal with it.

What about stacks running along the outside of the bed? I have a tonneau cover.

I've seen stacks run on the outside of the bed on a dually. It is a good deal harder to do on the outside, plus the outside-run stax probably only look right on a dually (just my opinion) You could have your cover custom cut for the in-bed stacks, but you would probably have some heat build up under that cover!

Contemplating dual 5" fatties for the rectangle ram myself!

I saw a 1st gen SRW truck yesterday that had only one stack going up the passenger/outside side of the truck. It looked a little odd and I think Wirenut is right,a duallie would be the only one to get away with it.
The one thing I can see being a bad idea about having it on the outside is,while your truck is parked along the street, someone walking along the sidewalk accidentally comes in contact with the hot exhaust pipe.

Last Febuary I saw a '99 dually with dual 4" stacks in the bed,so I chased him down to get a better look at them. I loved the throaty sound, but the funny thing was... in big-rig fashion, the front of his 5-ver was covered in soot!

Good points. See the real reason I thought of stacks was to make the awesome sound closer to my ears. Think I might just turn my un-muffled exhaust out the side in front of the rear tire (starboard side only).

My muffler work was done @ Mesa Muffler. They were really nice and got it done in under an hr. I had all the parts already, all they did was cut out the muffler and put in the strait pipe. Loud exhaust... woof.

About 5 years ago I did have some exhaust work done at Mesa M. , and they were fast and did a good job. Maybe I will buy the materials out of Napa catolag, and have Mesa M. install it. Thanks for your Help.
