Tow'g Empty Cargo Trlr WA to CA 2-25-07

Need a tow from Austin, TX to Madisonville, TX

Done all the checks on the obvious stuff but can find no reason why there appears to be no power to the right hand trailer brake/turn signal/flasher. All lights work on the 2006 3500 6 speed 4X4. Voltage reading on the tow harness connection left side is 12+, but right side is 10. 7 and shows no change when calling for the light. Left side shows 10. 7, but goes to 12+ when calling for the light. It isn't just one trailer doing it, all three trailers have the same right hand malfunction. All other lights on trailers function as they should. Help!

Welcome to the forumn!

If your trailer has overloaded or shorted this connection, the dealer has to reset the TIPM (Totally intergrated power module).

Better yet, there's a s/w update (TSB) for the TIPM that will increase it's current capability and will clear what ever code is present. I would just have the dealer do this TSB, it should be free.

Thank you. Not sure why it would have shorted, but will follow up with the TSB you mentioned. Have to wonder why it would still show some voltage if it was shorted or overloaded. Thanks again, John

A ckt can have voltage without any amperage carrying capability.

Had the TIMP reset, codes all deleted and the amps increased from 15 to 20. Got the TSB number from issue #54. Thanks for all the advice.
