Does anyone know if the 10 hole superduty rims from the 99-03 trucks will fit the same 8 lug pattern as are trucks. I've seen a few trucks with rims that look like the superduty rims but not sure if they are the same

There is a company that sells an adapter to put 10 hole 19. 5" rims on 8 lug trucks. I believe Rickson is the name of the company. I also think they have 8 lug 19. 5" rims also.

I thought the F450-550 trucks had 8 lug rims. Have to look closer next time I see one. Or are you talking about the old F450 that was coined F-Superduty? I'd like to get one of them to trransplant my engine into- 14" rear disc brakes, and heavier front suspension. Oo. Either way, I'd see about getting a set of wheels from Rickson, et al, and seeing if they can make a set for our trucks. 2nd Gen (16 or 19. 5) rims wont work on our hubs; ours are coin fit, the later ones arent. As for tires, I'd see what kind of deal i could get at a local shop that sells retreads.

The 250/350 superduty 10 hole/8 lug The 99-03 ford superduty's in F250-350 use 8-hole/8-lugs. The 89-93 Dodge use the lugs to center the wheel. The new Fords use the hub to center the wheel. If I am not mistaken, they are also metric. If the bolt circle diameter is the same and the center hole is big enough it might work. You will need to taper the bolt holes.

The 99-04 Super Duper Duty 8 lug pattern is different than all other 8 lug patterns. 8 on 160mm I believe. Everything else is 8 on 6. 5 inchs.

Ohhhh, sorry for the confusion. I was thinkin about the 450-550 super duties.



You need to find out when they went to the metric lug spacing. I don't exactly know when ford went and messed everything up!!

Ford has done some orphan wheels all through the years. They pioneered that back when they used wheels like the first VW had on them. (somewhere around 1940) One of the things that I think they are trying to do is get a bigger outboard bearing on the hubs. There is an 8 on 8 that is a common standard which would work well on all the trucks but no manufacture of light trucks has ever used thoses. I figured out how to do the bigger hub with the 8 on 6. 5 and have discussed it with Ford and Alcoa. Not interested. So---



If you have worked on a Chevy rear hub, you know that they have a unique method of installing the outboard bearing cup and they do have a bigger bearing. I have never seen a failed Chevy rear hub. I have seen plenty of Fords that did. Chevys have Bigger bakes as well.



On the original question, without an adapter 8 will not match 10.

My favorite Ford dumb wheel bolt patten is the 7 lug found on 97 and newer Light Duty F250's. Talk about an orphan wheel .

The 7 lug wheel was an effort to cut costs. they saved 4 studs and 4 nuts on every truck built.

4 studs and 4 nuts cost saving vs. cost of special 7 lug rotors, drums, front hubs, rear axle shafts, and wheels? All of which fit this model only. Sounds like spending dollars to save dimes.

It would seem so, but all of those parts are supplied by outside vendors that have to meet F*rd's specs. The castings are probably the same just one less machining step. I would agree with you though. I would think that it would be easier to run them all instead of stopping the line to retool.
