Can someone tell me how to determine my axle ratio on my gear that I have. It is in a box. (Came out of my truck when I put a 4:10 in it) I think it's either a 3:55 or 3:73. Came out of a stock 2001 Ram 2500 3/4 Ton with Cummins. Someone on the TDR once said something about counting the gears and then dividing by something.

Gears

Which brings me to a question I have had...

Are the gears in a 4. 10 41 and 10 ?. . Didn't look when I had the cover off. Just wondering...

Look in your glovebox for the sticker and it will tell you all your dirvetrain info, well at least my 2000 Dakota does and my 02, and 04 diesels did. You may have to empty the box out to see the sticker on the bottom inside of the glove box.

Not sure about the 41/10 question Gerry, The 11. 5 sure is a big ring gear, I am used to seeing the 8. 8 out of a Ford. I changed axel oil last week and pulled that cover and wow. Your welcome Dukenrock.

thanks

Thanks Kevin. I suspected as much. The only one I ever KNEW was my 68 charger with 3. 54's had a tag on it that said as I recall 39:11 ... . I know one of the numbers should be prime so it is constantly 'a different tooth'...
