Has anyone swapped out thier stock 3. 54 ring and pinion for a 3. 73? If so is there just a ring and pinion swap or would I have to change the carrier too???

You can go 3:73 or 3:90 gear swap without changeing the carrier on a 3:54. On 4:10 you have to change the carrier to go down numeriacally.

Do not know the best place but Randys ring and pinion sells them at a reasonable price. I think that might be the web sight.

Check 4 wheel parts at 800-421-1050, they usually have good prices on Dana stuff. You need to do front and rear, as I imagine you are aware this makes it expensive. Check TDR#24 p. 42 for my "Technical Topics" article on Danas.

3:90?

Is there a 3:90 available for the Dana 60 and 70? I have checked many places and have not come across this. Would greatly appreciate a link or phone #.

Thanks

Chris

Reider Racing has a good chart to show what is available at:

Reider Racing

and it's not looking good for 3. 73, although it does seem a few things are missing that I'm pretty sure are available (Dana 30 Detroit Locker?).

If I end up selling my 5er, I would prefer to have 3. 54 axles instead of the 4. 10's. Anyone know what I would expect to pay for the conversion, including labor and LSD? I would also swapping axles with someone who wants the 4. 10's.

Ken,

If your ever up here in ND I'll swap axles with you, I'll split the bill for the swap, and I know of a place that will do it for us.

EDIT:: If your serious and are going to be in the area i'll check on prices for the swap.

I will consider it IF I sell the 5er. I assume that an axle swap would be pretty simple. Bolt on and off?
