I travel quite a bit for work so my truck has 98000 miles on it and stay at hotels a lot where there are no outside pluggins available. On mornings below 15 F the truck has no problem starting, however; twice now about 30 secs to a minute after startup I hear a high pitched ringing whine noise. The noise goes away in less than ten minutes. I haven't been able to pin point where it is coming from under the hood. This only happens on the first start of the day. Since this has happened the second time I have began carrying a short piece of 1/2" pvc pipe to help pinpoint the noise if it does it again.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks for any input.

Woopin 5 F out today. The noise was present and did not last as long, but I did have time to listen and pin point it. As RHestand said it is indeed the ps pump. FourBarR I'll be taking you up on your advice. Its high time I changed that fluid to Amsoil anyway.

I'll get it done and update the tread to show how we did.

Thanks for the advice fellas.
