I installed rips exhaust . It went great. Rip helped me custom the tailpipe. He is a great guy. My turbo pressure went up 5 pounds and it sounds great. I went with a straight pipe. Here are a couple of pics. :D

Looks Great

Mine was shipped today I believe so I should be putting it on in a couple of days. You say you picked up 5psi, is that with the stock turbo? I am just curious. Is the straight louder at idle? Nice tip too.

I'll second that....looks great!

Did you change the exit angle of the tailpipe, or is that the way the actual kit exits? I've been thinking about getting 'Rip'ped and was wondering what the tailpipe exit looked like.

Thanks,

JM

P. S. Which tip is that?

AggieJustin

The exit angle comes out the same but further back and with the tip I used at 13" it would stick out about 6" more then mine. The tip is magna flow stainless tip. Rip sales them to. So I chopped the tailpipe off and had Rip flare one end out. Then I cut some out and welded it back up.

Where did you get the Rip Rook exhaust?

I had one of the 1st Jardine 4"s a few years ago. I did not like the way it exited, it looked a piece of irrigation pipe hanging out the back. I really like the looks of your Rip system.

hmmm, mine doesn't look like that! I was a little disappointed with my Rip's exhaust. I paid $50 for a hanger kit that doesn't look like that at all and doesn't fit right, the bends are way too far out, and the whole system was 1. 5" to 2" too sort, really upset about that. It came with dents too. Don't get me wrong, the 4" exhaust works and Rip is a hell of a guy, but his mail order kit IMO is not ready to sell. I saw Jerry Jardines kit in Parump, and would have gone with his if i had it to do over again. reb

Are those exhaust band clamps instead of the regular type exhaust clamps?? I would like to try and use te flat band type clamps so the pipe does not get crimped, but it seems like all the exhaust systems use regular type exhaust clamps with the hangers incorporated into the exhaust clamp.

Did you change the angle that the exhaust exits, before the tip?? Looking at EricBu12 pics of his exhaust it turns straight out the side and further back. (kind of like the 98 24V's did, but parrallel to the ground. ) I like your exhaust, it is up under the truck, exists in the same fashion as the stock exhaust, but with a nice shine, and a better sound. . Looks Good. .

1Tuffram.......

On my 01 I have a Jardines system with their hangers. I wasn't

too impressed with the hanging system. Assembled as per instructions the drone was unbearable. Remember the 01 weighs 11K lbs. The Cummins is working pretty hard in the power band. I added the 4" resonator and it cured the drone problem. Installation took about 2 hours.

On the 02 we used Rip's system. From my experience with Jardines hangers I decided to make my own this time. I also used strap clamps for the whole thing from the start. I cut the stock hangers off of the 3" system and welded them to some 4" clamps and it worked great. They didn't line up on any joints so I didn't have to worry about a little dent in the pipe. I also mounted the muffler after the first section of pipe to avoid the drone and that worked great. Rip's first section is 5' long so clearance wasn't a problem. Even making the hangers the installation only took 3 hours. (Citing prior experience)

Here's my evaluation for any who are interested. Remeber this is my opinion.

I like the down pipe on the Jardine system much better. It's angled downward more and provides more clearance between the frame and transmission.

Rip's tail pipe is better in my opinion. I like the way it exits further back.

Rip's packaging seemed to show up pretty mangled but all the pipes were intact. (He put protectors on the ends) Jardines looked better but the pipe joints were dented slightly and needed some straightening.

They both sound and perform great. Rip's is a little louder but that has a different muffler so the comparison is skewed.

I would highly recommend either system. They are both high quality systems and will perform as advertised.

EricBu12 cut off the angle that it exit out. If you don't do that your tip will stick out 4" to 8" beyond the outside of the truck. Depending on what tip you use.

I see that he cut the pipe off so it didn't stick out into the other lane, his exhaust exist 90degrees to the truck yours has some angle on it. . I like the way your exhaust looks, but not Eric's. (Maybe it is just the angle of the pic. . ) I just don't want an ugly system. . (or as one member stated about someone elses system. . "It looked like a piece of irrigation pipe hanging out the back. ") Thanks

(I know I can modify it once I get it, but would rather have it right when I buy it. . )
