and also tell them that you are going to post on the web sites regarding this. i just read the deal about VW (vortex.com) how in the end the dealer had to settle who earlier had sued the customer. this might attract their attention.

So far, things haven't gotten nasty between myself and the claims agent. I have some more questions for her tomorrow, and depending on how that goes I may have to play the PITA card... I guess time will tell.

Power Wagon,

I may need that email address from you if this doens't get resolved pretty soon...

Sorry to hear about your truck and especially the screwing you're getting with Progressive. They're,,,, supposedly,,,, a good company to deal with. From what I've heard, if you have another claim, even a small one like a windshield replacement, they'll drop you. This has happened to two other people I know.

It just goes to prove the saying, Insurance companies are one of the last forms of Piracy left.

If it makes you feel any better, you just gave progressive a big black eye!!!!People use this site as word of mouth ,alot more powerfull than a million dollar ad blitz!!!!!!

P. S. to guy in texas. I bet the ajusters down there ware bullet proof vests when it comes to pick-up claims;)

Jodog, you got that right! I have Progressive and am going to dump them due to this thread. Five rigs.

The way things sit right now, I am paying to have my truck fixed correctly. I have talked and talked with those guys, and as long as the jack@ss adjuster is claiming it can be fixed with "no problem" they won't do anything else. If, and I say IF when my truck goes in the shop and the bed is worse than originally thought (and we can convince the adjuster of this) then I still may get a replacement bed. Now, we'll just have to hope that works. I am still holding the check they gave me and I plan on raising holy hell with them if the adjuster doens't change his mind on the bed is off the truck and he can look all around and underneath easily. Boy, do I love insurance companies!!!

Sorry guys, the reason progressive has to rip everyone else off is to pay for me!:) I've cost progressive... hmm lets see,... . over $40,000 in the past 2 years! my bad! But you know what they are pretty cool about not raising your rate much when you cost them a lot of money, I have no complaints.

thought i could share some advice with you guys as far as insurance companies, in general, work. i have to deal with both the commercial ins on our companies' fleet as well as my private vehicle ins. regardless of the size or name of the company, the relationship with the agent is most important [no i dont sell ins] when you go to a cut rate company, you lose the personal aspects of settling a claim. insurance companies and their underwriters are playing a speculation game with your money. they hope that you will never have a wreck, house fire, etc. if that's the case they make money on your account. when something happens that causes them to have to "cash out", business wise, of course they are going to try to cut their losses. that is where the agent steps in. to the company, you are a number, to your agent, you should be a face and a name. these new ins cos are capitalizing on high and medium risk drivers [as well as good drivers that think they are saving a few bucks] by taking a real agent out of the equation. we pay more for our insurance, but the balance is we know that he will make sure that nothing like you guys are discussing happens. its like the stock market, stick with ibm and forget enron. hope this helps.

Wirenuts:

Thanks for your candid comments on your driving habits and your risk to loss ratio.

For everyone concerned about having a first line insurer cover their risk (automotive or home)...

If you have a first line or premium insurance company in a competitive state. . you are on the best path.

A competitive state is one which allows insurance companies to rate drivers on their at-fault accidents/claims and violations.

A first line insurance company will write and bind a policy based on your driving record (at-fault accidents and violations within 3/5 years), and your personal financial management. period.

A first line company will offer the best rates and payment plan.

Second and third rate companies will write just about anyone who can produce the down payment regardless of their automotive driving history.

As far as a group rate for TDR insurance... are you kidding me?

State regulations regarding competitive rates are complicated and ponderous at best.

For example: In Texas, Kentucky and Mass. (which are non competitive states) all you folks are paying to spread the burden of people with poor driving habits. Dig it.

A little food for thought... Before you bash your insuring company.....

Think about thouse people who are raising your rates.

Have fun
