ok... so i thought i was gonna gut my muffler, wasn't planning on putting an exhaust system on the truck just yet, however i broke hangers and all and than just decided to hack it right behind the resonator... sounds great, but its to close to the cab and loud as hell with your foot in... never thought i'd say this, but its too loud in the cab.

so now for my question... i live in jersey and run back and forth to massachusetts, vermont etc. in the north east, will an aluminum system last or is it worth it for me to go stainless? Rip's aluminum system is inexpensive, but will it last? also, i've seen posted that there are Rips stainless systems, but i haven't found any, where can i get more info about it?

thanks, Tim

Tim, Rip's system is actually an aluminized steel system, not aluminum. I will weather fine. If its too loud ask rip to send you an allied truck muffler.

Tim, I have Rip's aluminized and have lived in Wisconsin for a year and half, it is holding up just fine, regular under carriage washings will help alot. Buy some POR-15 touch up aluminized paint for once a year rock chip touch ups.

haha... no muffler for me, if it wasn't dumping out 6 inches behind the cab it'd be fine... that close its just resonating in the cab and you can't hear yourself think

thanks for the responses you told me what i wanted to hear, gonna call today and hopefully install this weekend

On a 2nd gen dodge you can move the muffler forward one section to help with drone on a diamond eye system which is aluminized steel. Another way to eliminate drone is with an aeroturbine muffler

i did a 4inch dual exhaust on my 2000 ctd quad short box and i love it! :)

the whole install took 2. 5 hours with the only cutting to the tailpipes.

my box also came beat up with one pipe bent a bit(nothing to complain about. )
