TheDieselStop don't like racin'

I know that it may be a little out of the way, but if anyone wants to come East for a few days to get away from the hurricane, let me know and ya'll are more than welcome to stay at my house. I'm here in New Bern, NC, but just thought I'd offer. Drive the ol' lady crazier with two Cummins heads in the house... . :-laf

thats a very friendly offer ch,but if i come see ya, i'll be i my powerstroke!,it gets the better mileage of my two duallys. seriously, the storm has pushed many a folk up my direction from the houston region, stations are running out of fuel, traffic is horrible, and still got a bunch of katrina refugees here. if the storm hits where they say,it will be in the gulfs richest refinery region. if you think katrina shot up fuel prices, you aint seen nothing yet. i live 4hrs north of houston, and the storm is still supposed to be at catagory one level by the time it hits me,will see how it pans out. best wishes. .

I don't care about what truck you drive as long as I can help. Let me know if you want to come out... Just send me a private message... .

Tom- my wife & daughter left here around 11:00am yesterday. They were stuck on 71 for 2 hrs, went to Gonzales on 90A, then up 183- bumper to bumper just about the whole way. They got in around midnight. Were you going on 290?

A friend of mine who lives in Galveston took off yesterday morning from her home at 7 am and is just now getting into Madisonville and only has an 1/8 tank of fuel left in her truck. She was going to get off onto hiway 21 and take that until she found fuel or ran out and could get AAA to help her. Worst part is that she has 3 kids with her and one on the way VERY soon. I know I am praying for her safety! May GOD be with you all in the storm's path!

Tom-

Was 290 that bad? I heard from my parents that they had plenty of traffic heading through Giddings, and that pretty much all supplies were gone.

I think they even turned 290 completely westbound through Giddings. I'm clear of it all as I headed way north for a friend's wedding. Now the question is whether or not I'll get back on Sunday.

YES... Bad doesn't begin to describe it. You ever had the feeling of being trapped and no way out? Nothing you can do. Totally helpless feeling. we couldn't get off 290 once we got on, all exits blocked. I left austin at 8pm on Wednesday to deliver in Lake charles, La. Got there and back to Houston, no real problem... til I was 1 mile from 290 on 610 at 4:30 am Thurs. morn. I got to the yard in Austin at 12:00 noon Friday. I hadn't eaten in 38 hrs. when i finally got to Giddings to the taco house. A friendly stranger gave me a bottle of water sometime Thurs. evening. Boy was it good.

Dumb move on my part, i was gonna stop in Baytown and get some snacks and stuff, 'cause I was pretty sure traffic would be building and slow goin' once I got to 290. But I thought I would just stop out in Hockley or Waller at one of the truck stops. Yeah right... .

Tom- good thing you didn't get stuck in Lake Charles! I heard they got bushwacked by Rita- made up for missing Katrina!

Did you find my post about MDW?

You're so right ... glad I at least made it to where I did.

Yes I found Mike's post... I'd go down right now and move it, but I don't have a 5th wheel hitch on either of my trucks. I sure hope they're OK over there in La. Don't know which part they made it to, but looked like not much of La. was untouched by Rita.

ToM!
