Houston Breakfast meeting Aug 18th

TDR Nat's Drag Race!

Central Motive Power has invited the RMTDR to their shop on August 17 for information on our trucks injection system. The last time we were there they gave us some useful information for the 12valve trucks. Now that the 24 valvers have been out for a while, CMP has had the chance to learn how the VP44 and lift pumps work ( or don't work  ). They will go into detail about what some of the problems and solutions there are for this fueling system.

They put on a good meeting last time, and I along with many others know that they are a top notch diesel shop.

What I will ask of you guys is to pass the word around about the meeting. I will need to know how many will attend, so that we can setup accordingly. Last, I would like any suggestions,on what information you would like to hear at the meeting.

Thanx

Bummer, sounds like I will miss that meeting as I will just leaving CA from Jeeping around Shaver Lake area (Fresno) and headed back home on August 19th.

I'll make sure I write it down on the calander so I remember. I'll try to bring 3 other guys with me so count me in I can't wait.

Hey Alex, count me in on this one. It was nice to have something arranged ahead of time so we can all plan. CMP put on a great show last time and I expect they will do the same. Good people and good company.

I will try and plan to be there as well. Hopefully I won't have to go out of town that weekend. Missed the last dyno at Colorado Diesel due to last minute trip.

Big A, thanks for the early planning!!! I should be able to make this one!!! Oo.

Is this the correct address?

6301 Broadway

Scott,

That is the correct address. I'm glad to see you guys are coming. Id like to see a bigger turnout than the 1st meeting we had there. Pass the word around.

What kind of stuff do they do there?? I'm looking for a good place to have my 4" Bully Dog exhaust installed on my 2002. I am not happy with the supplied clamps/hangers and will need some custom work done in re-fabbing the hanger system to meet my standards. Plus I would like to remove the OEM system intact so I can install it on my '95 truck (no sense in cutting-up and tossing a brand new exhaust when I could rip out the 7 yr old exhaust on my '95 truck and toss that one, this way both trucks would have new exhausts :p ) If Central Motive does not do exhaust work can you guys recommend a good shop which believes in quality workmanship and pays attention to all the little details? I found a shop in the yellow pages: House of Mufflers and Brakes, they advertise Maganflow, flowmaster, Borla, Dynomax, Banks, etc. So thought they might know what they are doing since they deal with some performance stuff, I called and they said they have installed 4" systems on diesels. I also found a shop in the yellow pages called Diesel Performance Upgrades and they advertise exhaust upgrades.

Please help me find a competent shop to install my exhaust, I'll accept nothing less than top quality workmanship on my truck!!!

I'll definately be at the meeting. Them guys are great to talk to.

1TuffRam - As long as you have the tools (since I don't) I'd be more then happy to help you out to install the exhaust.

Believe it or not installing an exhaust system is very simple. It's getting the old one off that is a real pain in the rear. You can purchase different types of clamps and just take it from there.

I hightly doubt shops like CMP will do custom fab work. You need a shop that can do welding. So your best bet is to purchase the type of clamps that you like, then have someone weld the hanger part from the old clamps to the new ones.

As far as installing your existing exhaust on the 95, you may want to look at how they are both ran, I don't believe the exhaust from your 2k2 will fit your 95. I do know for sure that the down pipes are different from the 93 to my 2k truck (I've compared the exhausts from my brother in laws 93's to my 2k truck).

Count me in for CMP

1tuffram - tend to agree with Kev on CMP not doing exhaust work. The do a lot of work there. I plan on stopping there this afternoon so I'll try an remember to ask. They are a good bunch to work with.

Dave

DOH!!

I can't believe it. I work that day so I'll just have to hope one of you all post a 'summary' afterwards... .

argh:mad:

Tuff,

House of Mufflers on Dahlia and Evans is an excellent muffler shop. I and my dad have had several vehicles done by them and they have all been great. I have had them put new exhaust systems on 2 4x4s. I never had anything come loose or rattle on them.

It is owned by 2 guys, who are usually working on the vehicles and I think they currently have 2 others working for them.

Give them a call. They seem to know their stuff.

1tuffram,

Give the guys at Colorado Diesel a call. They just put in a Bully Dog exhaust on one of their trucks, and did a nice job. Ask for Blaine or Tyler. Thank you guys for responding. Sounds like we're gonna have a good turnout. BTW, do you guys mind if we have a Duramax owner show. I guess the Duramax is having fuel injection issues.

DMax Owner

I'd say everyone is welcome - as long as Dmax and PS owners don't drool all over the Cummins they could have had.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll check into the suggested places when I return from vacation.

What time is this meeting on Aug 17th at Central Motive Power?? I actually have that weekend off, so I just might finally be able to make one of the local gatherings and meet all of you.

Little more info req'd...

Would like more info as to what city and directions. Might be able to "swing" by and have a look c. Would be nice to visit the area and maybe get my awning replace at Carefree. Nuff time to make the plans but need more info (unless we need to be in Lake City that wkend). SO's house is there and you know the rest of the smoke story.

SOTSU!!

If you need exact directions, shoot me an e-mail and I'll get them to you.
