GM scrapping the D-Max?

How do you keep the ball joint from spinning?

Bad drivers

On a recent trip. We had some ( BAD DRIVERS) pass me on the right on the end of a merge lane and then hit the breakes. MIssed him but not by much. Had a female driver pull out from two cars behind me and pass me on the right when I (WE) WERE PASSING a semi, ***** cut me off by forcing her way in front of me into the merge lane and was so pleased with her self

Got both of their license plate numbers and reported them to the RCMP. :D

Why is it that drivers have to pass you ( when your are doing over the posted speed) on the left to get ahead of you and pull back in front only to make a right hand turn. ( Bloody morons)

You guys had better listen to NICK.....

I think you're right and I don't think a lot of this sounds great at all. It sounds like a bunch of overgrown kids that have inadequacy/napoleon complexes, trying to battle their insecurities with a big truck. It's amazing reading these stories how much danger people will put themselves in and others in for the sake of their egos. I don't know where people get off thinking they 'own' a lane , a spot in a lane, or a position in front or behind other vehicles. The reality is, if you are in the left lane and someone is on your tail, get over and let them by. I don't care if you're going 20 over the speed limit, the left lane is the fast lane, and as posted above, lead, follow, or get the heck out of the way. I don't care if you're driving a long bed dually with a 50 foot trailer, if some guy in a civic wants to go faster in the left lane, get out of his way. Also, while you guys are feeling like you've got a lot in your shorts playing lane king, some of these people may actually be rushing to the hospital, or actually have to speed for a legitimate reason. I'll never forget when I was on the way to the vet with my dog on his last leg, and getting behind some prick that wanted to do 60 in the left lane of a 55. I didn't tail him at first, but after honking and light flashing, no go, I actually had to put myself and others in danger and get around the guy... There is no need for this or most of the nonsense cattletrkr posted. . Try learning a little tolerance, patience, and care for the safety of others around you. Realize that even though you think you have a lot of power in your truck, that big trucks with trailers are not as fast nor do they take off as fast as most cars. You can't expect to be leading the pack with your rig, it requires a little humility and a slightly more relaxed pace. . You don't see big rig drivers getting upset when cars cut in front of them or taking better lanes... it just comes with the territory. .

Just remember the next time you think you're a big shot and force someone out of a lane just because you have a big truck, he may pull up at the next stoplight with a big shotgun and blow your head off. You can have all the ccw and guns you like, however nobody drives with a cocked and loaded firearm with their hand on the trigger ready for war... Better safe than sorry.

With that said, I won't say it doesn't p*** me off, I just try to be the bigger man and take the high road with a priority on safety and philosophy of not sweating the small stuff. Just my . 02

No Good Deed Shall Go Unpunished

My wife and I were headed to the RV storage lot with the 5th wheel in tow after a weekend outing. Coming up to a traffic light, the road widened from 2 to 4 lanes with a center left turn lane. Being the nice old fellow that I am, I pulled into the right lane to let the traffic behind me get around when the light changed. So, the light turns green, I take off, the cars that were behind me go around - no problem so far. Now, several hundred yards after the light, the road narrows back to 2 lanes, and I have to merge back into the left lane. I have the left turn signals on well before the merge, and this individual in a Hyundai decides to get right up next to the 5th wheel in the left lane and just sit there. The 5th wheel has a center turn signal that's flashing right in his face, yet he won't pass me or fall in behind me - he just sits alongside me. So, now that I'm running out of road, I figure something's gotta give. Rather than stand on the brakes, I start coming left. Finally, when the left side of the 5th wheel is probably 6" from the guy's Korean tin can, he wakes up and starts blowing his horn. So, now that he's awake, I keep coming. Finally, he stands on the brakes and falls in behind me, blowing his horn and telling me that I'm #1 on his list. He followed me for probably 1/2 mile before turning into a subdivision.

I know - I should be ashamed, but blocking vehicles pulling trailers, cutting them off and pulling out in front of them seem to be hobbies for some of these Houston-area drivers.

I'm cetainly not bragging. Think of this as more of a confession. OK, story #1 is bragging. That was just awesome.

Anybody else got anything they want to get off their chest???

Sell your Power box before you kill yourself or someone else.

Next time, just put on a donkey suit-- it's a much safer way to make donkey of yourself.

You're gonna get someone killed. Just because someone else in a jerk doesn't mean you need to be. If SOMEONE isn't going to be the mature one, where does it end?

IN AN ACCIDENT, that's where.

I can empthatize with your frustration. BELIEVE ME-- I'm not above getting angry with some of the morons on the road. But you gotta draw the line at doing things that are dangerous. And you were doing just that-- and out of line, if I may be so bold as to say so.

If you're stupid enough to further provoke the typical moron/ psycho of present day, this could happen to you at any given moment.

SLOW DOWN, LET IT GO, find a less agressive radio station to listen to. We all screw up, I'm sure each of us has accidently cut someone off before, it is not worth dying over. It sadly has come to that more and more every day.

Quick Motto;;;::::LEAD-FOLLOW-OR GET THE HE$$ OUT OF THE WAY Alot of people put there brain in the freezer when the get behind the wheel. Over the years I have been able to tell what a driver is going to do BE-fore he does it. Just that 7th sense one develop when your on the road.

Marv.

yeah ive started being able to do that too since no one seems to remember how to drive after they get thier licence i drive a 450 delivery truck and when i have any amount of hay i can be flying and they will still try to pass me

try driving farm equipment around in NJ...

1) driving a Case 7250 dualled front and rear with a 35 foot disc (folded obviously) and a 32 foot packer behind that (folded as well) pull out onto a 2 lane that narrows up with no shoulder going over a bridge, made my right hand turn start over the bridge as some @## decides to try and pass me, he got stuck between the disc and packer, thank god for him it was a small car

2) Uncle and i are moving equipment, he's in an STX 375 quadtrac with the disc and packer, i'm in the 7250 with a folded grain drill right behind him. we're on backroads and there is a guardrail because of a ditch on our side, this young kid comes flying up at us at about 40 mph, slams on the brakes and ens up out in a field because he couldn't slow down and slide over to his shoulder

3) (ok, this one aint movin equipment or what not but thought it was funny) Rte. 130 in robbinsville, 3 traffic lights in a row and all are green, i'm doing 55, the speed limit, guy pulls out of a gas station on the other side of the third light as i'm coming into the light, no way i can stop in time, layed on the airhorns and he shot straight off the road onto the grass at the gas station

PS there are many more about movin equipment around, but those are the most recent

I think there are a lot of people who are taking this thread the wrong way. Do I need to spell it out for you? I guess so.

1. I in no way think I was in the right doing what I did. I am embarrassed for at least some of it.

2. This thread isn't about "who's the biggest dumbass with a truck". It's just about "what have you done that maybe wasn't such a good idea, but sure felt good at the time. "

3. Dogs are NOT a "legitiamte reason" for speeding, under any circumstance. Period.

4. While not a good idea, safe, defensive, or anything else that they should have been, every decision I made was to get out of a bad situation, not get into one. Let me repeat that, none of it was a good, safe, defensive decision. Would I do it again, probably not. I honestly hope I never have to find out.

looks like is just took a few days for the "jonny safe-co's" of the world to read this.

my only advice is this: In most states it's your fault if you hit from the drivers door back in an accident. So following closely, flashing brights and that sort of thing is a risk you are taking for a ticket and Ins. claim.

the safer way is to have enough power to stay in front and hold off their attacks from the rear. :D and trust me, I do.

I've filled the air with smoke more than once to get tailgaters off my rear. I usually give them a little puff to warn them and then they get the full solar eclipse effect the second time. Stacks rule for this purpose :D

I've only used the cowboy lane a few times in my life but each was provoked and deserved.

Exactly, Never let the other get infront of you, other wise you lose most of your control.

The only time jump in behind was to get a plate number, and at that point, fall way back and phone the police. typicaly, if you have a dang good reason, they will find this guy as you are following.

I had an indicent where I was a little "kinda close" lane change on my part, at 20mph, with a signal, and no smoke, appernetly ****** off this ford exploder guy to require the re-action to toss a cup of coffie on my passenger window, ONLY MOMENTS PRIOR to the coffie, my girlfriend rolled up her window.

At this point, this SUV driver found out that you should NEVER EVER EVER EVER mess with a truck that smoke black on command. They are faster then you! :) I come running up onn this guy, he about C$$$ed his pants, got his plate number and followed his butt around town till the cops where on the horn and located this guy. . Moron ran home :) he had to be in his lat 30's to. come on, you never go home! :)

non hte less, this guy was momnets away from assult and a lawsuit so bad that his grand children would be paying my grandchildren damages.

If I was stock, i would of cought up to him and got his plate, but would of taken alot to do so and some dangerious driving.

I'm new to this diesel thing, and the smoke out sounds great, what would it take for me to do that? I'm here in L. A. These people don't get the hint that when you're soo close as when I look in my mirror, I see the roof of the car, and if I hit the brakes, you're gonna get "hitched", literally. I lost count of how many times I got rear ended when I was driving a tow truck. Who woulda thunk at 5pm, someone with a bac of . 26 would be driving?? And yes, I've put people in the weeds before. Females in SUV's seem to be the worst

Shopping for the best deal on the truck I WANT. 2006 2500 QC s/b 4x4 Sport with lots of goodies

Its as easy as a "performance box" on the dash with 2 plugs to the ecm on the newer ones. On the older ones like mine, it is merely a turn of the screw or readjustment of the fuel plate.

For L. A. area, I wonder if you are only setting yourself up for problems with the CHP. Aren't they performing roadside emission readings now? A while back, I remember reading an article about their new fangled radar/ emissions lazer do hicky gun. I am sure with all the restrictive and overzealous greenies in your town, you'd probably be reported by someone completely outside of your targeted smoke cloud.

Too bad we can't equip the trucks with a diverter for the exhaust system so it will blow straight back on demand, then reroute sideways (or upwards) with a butterfly valve similar to a n exhaust brake.

That just happens to be your opinion or maybe others'... To some folks, dogs are outside animals that can come or go. . to others they are family members that live inside the house, sleep on our beds, etc. I can see why you pointed that out, you're feeling defensive based on my and others' comments. . but it was just an example... the point is the same regardless... it could have been someone's wife in labor, or someone with another legitimate reason.

It looks like at least you are acquiescing to the folks with the more responsible opinions, and hopefully you are being genuine. I know there's a kid in all of us that likes to romp on the throttle and be an asskicker/get the best of other people on the road, but it seems the older we get (hopefully) the more reason we have, and priority on safety.

I hate it when I'm towing the 30' 5th wheel. It's usually coming out of a small town where it goes from 2 lanes to 1 lane and EVERYBODY tries to sneak around you. I usually stay in the lane that doesn't end but people are always over there and expect you to move. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Don't have the smoke thing going but I do lay on the wimpy horn and for a long time.

I love the pos I drive to work sometimes, a 87 gmc mini van that from the factory has the loudest and deepest horn around. I use it all the times when women are putting on makeup, people reading, etc at stop lights and not watching for the light to turn green. More than a second or two they get the horn.
