Got our first snowfall today. Took truck out after work. Installed the Roadmaster Suspension springs in August. The guys with the stick trucks know how violent wheel hop can get. #ad

#ad

ALL wheel hop is gone. None what so ever. These springs work as well as my traction bars did, at 1/2 the price. I started with the . 060 spacing between the coils. I felt this was conservative. Changed it to . 120. Much better.

Thanks Mr Bob for an excellent Product. #ad

I agree.
But I have developed a bucking sensation when towing my fifth wheel. It gets so bad I have to clutch the truck to stop it. Seem to be at its worst in 3rd at power, but found it bucking in fifth and had to clutch and coast till it stopped. Could be my Monroe's are shot. I think I need a stiffer
shock. Has anyone had this experence?

Traction bars are high on my BOMB list. I've come close to getting stuck in the sand here a couple times, jerking my driveline violently when spinning to keep from getting mired in the soft stuff. Many of the off-roading spots around here are very sandy and it's not too hard to suddenly find yourself good and stuck.

I considered the Roadmaster system until I heard someone tried them with their slide-in camper loaded on the back, and the truck wallowed all over the road. I could be they were not properly adjusted, but I guess I'm not 100% sold on them.

Hemi-Dart, axle hop and windup control was one of my biggest questions/concerns about the Roadmaster system and no one ever provided any feedback "yea" or "nay" when this system was discussed at length a few months back. So I appreciate your information. I may reconsider the Roadmaster system.

Vaughn, according to numerous spectators and road testers in attendance when the Road Master kit was properly installed and adjusted, the road test (with slide-in camper loaded... on a 3500 4x4 no less), yielded poor driveability characteristics. Subsequent adjustments did not produce favorable results.

Maybe the owner of said test vehicle would like to comment?

Ok, I am said owner of said vehicle. We installed the roadmasters on my Ram and did before/after tests on most everything.
Height from ground, ride, etc.

I know a lot of people are very happy with this product. I do not want to ruin anyone's business.

I would not recommend this product to anyone that carries a load. My camper weighs 3000lbs dry, and it was uncontrollable with this load. I spoke to the owner of roadmasters, and told him everything, in hopes of him improving his product. He phoned me back several times, gathering information, etc. I had kind of forgotten about it, but guess it is time to speak.
I got a very dangerous sway from side to side, that was about to put me in the ditch! I had to put the clutch in and almost slam on the brakes to control it. I had three passengers in the truck who can verify it, one of which said that if I hadn't taken some action at that moment, he was going to yell out to do something. It was that bad.
Yes, it was installed as per instructions... both written and verbal. And the same for the adjustments on the springs.
I see that now with a 5th wheel, there are problems... if you carry a load or tow something, find a different way to smooth your ride or eliminate the wheel hop. This one is dangerous.
Personal opinion, NO Charge!

Turbo Thom,

Did you get the TSB done that uses heavier springs on the throttle rod ? This may be the bucking sensation you are talking about.

John, Rob & Vaughn,

I don`t tow or carry any loads. I can only comment on the improvements noticed with an empty truck. #ad
I think the Roadmaster spings have helped alot. Preventing the dreaded axle wrap/ wheel hop issue in snow or sand was worth the price alone. (empty, unloaded truck) I noticed the truck will corner much better with much less body lean that without them. I can corner about 10 mph faster more than stock. A big difference. Also the truck takes the bumps better than stock (rear). Not alot but noticeable.

I was most concerned with Roadmaster being able to tame the wheel hop in snow. They did it better than expected (empty, unloaded). #ad

Thanks Hemi.
That is what mines doing. I looked at the throttle linkage and I do have a spring from the lever down. There is a small dealer down here in Jackson, Georgia that seems to care and I trust so, I'll take it over there to be checked.
Thanks for the information.

What kind of settings are yall using? I've had the Roadmasters on for a while and to be honest I don't think I would buy them if I had to do again. My experience is that the truck does corner better but the ride is just as rough as before I had them. I still get bounced around on every road. (empty) I have mine set at . 120 and had thought about increasing some more. I've tried everything from . 080-. 120. I also thought that I might put some RS9000s on and see if the combination would work better. Again I'm not trying to knock the product, just saying what I have experienced.

Folks:
The best part about the Roadmasters is the truck when it hits bumps does not sound like a little drummer boy in back. I adjusted mine as far as it would go and still didn't have enough adjustment. I had to go to the back of the spring and adj. it from there. Still not enough. I need to fine a longer adjuster bolt. Maybe new shocks will take care of the problem. I'll see.

Cheers.
