When my girlfriends ford broke down (she was hauling a horse trailer), It took them 4 hours to get there. She was maybe 30 miles from the dealership too! I had to come get the horse trailer for her, I wasn't going to let the horses sit in the heat for that long.

Bet your girlfriend loved that--sitting there in the heat and watching those horses ride off in the cool breeze, laughing at her through the bars in the back of the trailer! :-laf

My old Ford gasser once popped an alternator belt in Marietta, Oklahoma on the way back to Fort Worth. It was about 9:30PM. AAA couldn't get me a new belt, but I had AAA+ so I had them tow me from Marietta to my house in Fort Worth. All but about 10 miles was covered by AAA. I got home cheaper by being towed than if I had bought gas for the last leg of the trip. :D

I have AAAplus... Never a question when I need to use it. On the other hand, my son had a flat and he tried to use his associate card here in Oregon (my account is a Calif AAA) and they denied him service. He hitchhiked 7 miles home at 2 am. The next day when i asked where his car was, I then called AAA and raised holoy stink. Within a week, I received a refund for the complete year with an apology! Ive been a member for over 30 years.

Then Ford sucks too. These trucks are made to pull trailers. They should be included in the roadside assistance program. .

Good point... ... ... .

I wonder if a lot of the problem isn't with the operator of the tow truck?? I wonder if a small gratutity wouldn't help? A twenty still goes a l o n g ways yet today.

Best roadside assistance program known to man is the TDR travel companion.

Last year a very nice fellow and his buddy were driving from Ohio to California to run his jeep on the Rubicon. His 16cm exhaust housing took a crap (the flange was very bent, it was leaking exhaust very badly)

He gave me a call and within 15 minutes I had him in front of my house changing the housing for a spare I had in my garage.

About 1 hour and 5 or 6 beers later he was on his way.

All you guys DO carry the TDR travel companion in your rigs right???
