Thanks for all the comments. They will take the weight of the vehicle. What happens is they are close enough to the seem on the boby. When you lift up on the rails they will go up about . 5 inches or less and then rest agains the body. The seem is very strong and having the length of the boday helps to spread the weight out down the whole side of the truck.

I'd rather they didn't contact the body when lifting. Maybe that's asking too much...

For light-weight rigs (~4K), I have used 3 stand offs, and have never had more than ~ 1/4" deflection. I always leave enough room to not contact the lower pinch weld (with the exception of the jeep... . those actually attach to the tub, like most of the jeep rails do). If 4 will support the weight of the truck, it is only a matter of mounting them low enough to clear the pinch weld by 3/4" (assuming the 1/2" deflection figure given above is correct), and you will be contact free. That is what is so nice about making them yourself (or having someone make them to your spec. ) as opposed to buying a off the shelf part... you get 'em how you want 'em.

They look nice. Speaking of looks, what did you use to finish them? I have something similar and they're getting a little ugly. I need to scrape mine down and refinish them.

Sweet rockrails. Pushing on the pinch seam a little should not be abig deal. As long as the mounts are solid to the frame the pinch should only get at max half the load on the bars, the other half going to the frame. Jacking it up by them may not be adviseable but the only thing that should do is cause body panel alignement problems.



Pruitt, What link arms did you go with when you went to the Deaver coils up front? Do you know how much longer than stock they are? and d you have rub problems on flat ground at full lock?

I just used regular black paint nothing special. I got it from carquest. It goes on thick and dries nice and shiny. Over time it will dull though. Mark i sent you an Email

Thanks for the info Trey. Don't get over cocky at Moab. Slickrock may not be slick but you can find it's limit rather suddenly!
