Tpruitt,

Those look alot like the ones featured in 4 Wheel & Off Road magazines project Army Truck. Did you use them as a guide? They look nice and very well made, good job.

I never saw that i will have to look at them. Its a pretty common design but it works for me. Thanks for all the good comments.

Nice Job

I was originally thinking along those lines too, but when welder came to steel, I decided to go a little simpler and just welded them up to my frame. Pictures can be found at the following under Dodge bumper and rock rails if anyone is interested.

They were made from 2x2x. 188 box, if I had it to do over I might go 2x3... ... :rolleyes:

would you be able to add a pic taken from the underside of the 2X4 rail itself? I'm curious to see whether they are like a rock slider and how they interface with the 2"tube. thanks. Looks great by the way.

Also, your front winch mount. Is that home made? I would like to fab up something like that for my truck this summer. Looks real good.

It put them on there for rock sliders. I am headed out to moab next spring and i needed some protection. I will try and get some more picture of them. The rock sliders, coil spacer, and the winch mount are all home made.

How are the vertical welds holding up? Is the frame looking stressed in the area? I'd be hesitant about losing the temper in the frame to weld on it, but I really would like to do the set-up you have >>>> what to do *sigh*

frame is fine you are not going to be losing any strength when you weld on the side of the frame, just on the top and the bottem.

Are they bolted and welded to the frame? Are they strong enough to support the weight of the vehicle... like if you needed to lift one side with a hi-lift jack, could you?

Have you guys tried supporting the weight of the truck on them yet? I'm in the early stage of building a set for my '96, I'm just concerned with the weight of the truck being a bit too much for 4 standoffs... . not that I plan on using them much, but you never know how far back I will have to go to recover the jeep. :{
