I sure missed you guys.

My truck is a solid color and I wanted to put some polished stainless rocker panel covers on to break it up a bit.

Can any one tell me who is the best manufacturer of these? And how much.

I was also thinking of a set of Carr nerf bars since they seem to be the most durable.

Check these guys out maybe you'll like what they offer?

I have a solid color truck and I am also contemplating what to do about the rocker panel protection.

Kat,thanks for the link.

Those covers are nothing less than beautiful! I'm sure that they can custom cut the CUMMINS logo into them also and would make a statement wherever you go!

WOWZY-

I am sure they will do anything you ask them to, for the right price.

If you order something fromt hem please let us know how you like them etc... .

I kinda like them too but I got too many other upgrades I want first.

Other then the leveling kit on your truck do you have any other lift? Do the 35's rub at all? Just curious.

Where did you get and what kind of leveling kit. I would like to get that until I can get the 4. 5" lift and 35" tire setup.

But gonna do some mild BOMB'ing first heh.

I just checked and the stainless panels do not cover below the bottom of the door edge so there is a little over an inch that is not protected. Also looked for black panels and no one has them but I checked at powder coat shop to see if they could paint the stainless and they said they could do it without a problem and it could always be touched up. I then found a body paint shop that would paint a clear pastic paint up to the first line above the bottom of the door for the cost of doing the stainless and powder coat. It is a three coat process and looking at a red car that had it done it has a slight texture and a slight milkey clear color. The cost was cheaper than doing a 3M stick on and should last many years.

I've got 650 miles and already 5 small rock chips all on the lower 4 inches of the truck.

Kat, I tried a set of 35x14. 50x16. 5 super swamper thornbirds at first. I had about an inch of clearance minimum when I cut the wheels. That was too close for me so I opted for 12. 50's and I guess I could make them rub if I crossed a ditch or something of that nature. If you can try to make it to a Four Wheel Jamboree and you'll be amazed at the deals that you can get.

I went last July to the Jamboree at Bloomsburg,Pa and all of the tire and accessory wholesalers were there like National Tire and Wheel,Rancho,Skyjacker and so on.

I ordered the leveling kit(just coil springs),dual stabilizers and shocks while I was there and spent $250. 00 with free shipping to boot. I have no other lift and ran my 33's and the Eagle 589's at stock height for six months with no problems of rubbing before the lift kit was installed.

I plan on lifting it another 2" with coil spacers from ProComp and rear add-a-leaf so I can run the Thornbirds and 16. 5x12 Weld Typhoons. That should look pretty good.

Hope you find what you need.

Jason Burton, owner of NW Custom just released his new rocker panel covers at Dyno Days last month. He displayed his new brushed stainless steel version with the "Rams Head" and "Cummins Power" water jet cut into the panels. Man, did those look trick! He also had the polished stainless steel version on his own Ram. Needless to say, I have more of his products on order! #ad

is there a website for NW Custom? i'm looking for something to break up the solid blue (sport package) but prefer black.

thanks

I was thinking of getting that bed liner stuff put on my panels. It would protect against anything even dents and you would never have to worry about the glue coming loose like on the stainless.

No Andy, but that would look sweet. . especially in BLACK! Actually I ordered several different brushed stainless steel emblems, one of which is just like the one on Bob's Flame Red Ram (as seen at Dyno Days)... Rams Head/Cummins Power (with the power in script), for my canopy back glass (if I ever get the darn thing back from Glasstite!) Even my four year old daughter says my Ram looks naked without my canopy. LOL

OBTW, that's topper or cap or camper shell to all you non-Northwesterners.

Moving to product forum; probably get good input from the other trucks too! #ad

I'd like to hear from anyone who's tried the bedliner approach to preventing rock chips on the rocker panels. What brand? Did it hold up?

MAK

I just ordered the rocker panel guards with the "Dodge" logo on them from Northwest Custom this morning but thinking about the "Cummins" logo made me change my mind and I left a message with him tonight to change my order. He had told me this morning that he keeps a good supply of the "Dodge logo panels in stock,so he probably has already shipped the ones that I originally ordered.

I won't sweat it, I'm sure I'll be pleased with either one of them. I'll keep you guys posted on how they look.

I also ordered some stainless nerf bars made by "Steel Horse". I found a killer accessories sight, http://www.ustruckaccessorieswhse.com/

I looked at the Westin stainless nerf bars. I didn't like the looks of the mounting brackets, they looked a little cheap. I thought the Steel Horse bars looked more durable.

WOWZY, you're really going to like your new NW Custom rocker panels! These are made of thicker stainless steel than the thin, feeler gauge stock used by other manufacturers. Did you order the brushed or polished stainless steel?

Hey WOWZY and others,

Check out www.carparts.com (use coupon code 1303005 - good for 1/3 off your first order up to $300 until 5/31/00) - saw your mention of the Steelhorse Steps. I bought the black ones and even if I didn't have the coupon I would have saved $20 over the site you posted. With the coupon, I saved almost $100. I posted a couple of months ago on this, but that code expired in Apr.

Uh,Oh! I'm glad you mentioned that because Jason didn't tell me of that option. I hope that I can call him tomorrow and tell him that I want the polished ones before he ships them. Either way I'm sure I'll be happy with either one. Thanks for letting me know.

I checked the price list and they don't list the polished or brushed option.

Hey TX, Are you satisfied with your Steelhorse bars. Is there anything you didn't like about them? Are they durable enough? Thanks for the link.

They work great! I was disappointed when I saw a flat metal strap with a hole in either end was part of the mounting equipment (it bolts onto the bottom of the bracket that attaches to the body mount and then screws into body), but after mounting I decided that it was OK - very stable, even with a 210lb redneck jumping up and down on it! The black ones have a textured finish which is pretty cool.

I ordered the polished stainless bars to match all of my current and future upgrades unlike my '84 2 1/2 ton blazer which everything is black.
