Rode in friends Ford PSD crew cab 4x4

I'm not impressed with the powertrain! Herky jerky with lots of drive snatch, I know that 4wd's will have a little more, but this was horrible, (6 speed manual) and he's been driving it for 10 months now, so it's not lack of driver skill, or break in. Even his wife said "this is a whole lot smoother than ours". Nice rear seats though. For us, (no kids) the Dodge QC is just right, I am really happy with our choice.

As for sounds, nothing sweeter than a Cummins SIX!

In November, I went on a 10 day Elk hunt with Brother in law in his PSD 4 X 4with 6 speed, Crew cab. Drove it a couple hundred miles and rode in it 3 times that.

I did not find anything to complain about or criticize.

Course I still prefer my CTD

every other weekend i ride home in my buddies 97 psd ext cab, since we live close to each other at home we take turns driving to save fuel and miles on our trucks. i agree with emarsh, my buddies 5 sp is def not smooth and he has been driving a manual for 5 yrs now and he has had this truck for a yr. the roughness of the drivetrain and all you can live with, but somethign i cant live with is the rock hard seats. by the time that i get home i have to take som advil to sooth my aching back and A$$. the thing is my moms explorer is the same way as is my other buddies 2001 f250. nothing compares to the leather lazyboy seats in my CTD.

A bunch of us in our RVing club went to dinner one night. The choice was the back seat in my quad cab ( :-laf :-laf ) or a friend's crew cab PSD. Having ridden in the back seat of the PSD, there was a good foot of space between my knees and the back of the driver's seat - no comparison! :{



Yeah, it sounded funny (it was just as noisy in terms of "clatter/cackle", if not noisier, inside as the Dodge), but for space, the Ford is the clear winner! Are you listening, DaimlerChrysler? #@$%! #@$%!

Bandit, I know what you mean with the seats. Had to drive a Ford Expedition for work last week and it was like sitting on concrete blocks. Four hours of that was torture. Don't understand why they can't put in decent seats. My 85 and 89 Fords were cushy.

I can't imagine where the difference is??

On the Elk hunt we drove one way with only very breif stops for food and fuel over 225 miles, then most days we drove for a couple hours on very remote, rough unpaved back roads (we were in a new area and did a lot of looking the area over). I found the '01 Ford F350 crew cab, ed SRW both very comfortable to ride in even on the rough and rutted back roads and very smooth including shifting to drive?? It wasn't a cummins, but it was nice.

One of my friends just received his Flord that he ordered, a V10, 6 speed, crewcab, SRW. He wanted a Dodge but has 4 kids. Its a nice truck but I don't like the interior at all, he got the top of the line leather wood trim etc. and it looks VERY cheap inside compared to my similarly equipped Dodge. I've never cared for the leather seats full of holes either, had them on the Flord Exploder I traded for my first CTD. Best brand switch I ever made.

I drove a friends PSD, crewcab, 4x4 on a hunting trip to west Texas & it seemed like I had to "push" it the whole way. I thought it was the road but I took the same trip a couple of weeks later in my truck & I could feel mine running easier down the road. Stopped to fill up in Alpine & my truck took 9 gallons less fuel too. I'm sure they are more comfortable in the rear seat area but I like the economy of mine & I have had PSDs in the my shop for repairs. The complexity of the fuel system is something else compared to the Cummins. Actually the PSDs are good for my economy too, if you know what I mean. Keep on rattln.

First of all let me say that I love my 2001 Dodge h. o Cummins/six speed. That being said I have put 130,000 miles on a 99 Power stroke/six speed at the utility company where I work. This truck weighs 13,000 lbs every day and has towed as much as 19,000 lbs. The truck has also spent ALOT of time in 4wd following our pole lines across whatever the desert has to offer. The Ford has been extremely capable and reliable. As for the seats I personally find the bench seat to be one of the best I ever spent time in and I have spent ALOT of time in it. I love my Dodge but Fords aint bad
