Fun Stuff .... To be taken Lightly

The reason you have these pests in the yard, is you have a grub/insect problem. Go to your local hardware store and pick up a bag of grub/insect killer. You just spread it over the lawn with a spreader. Best results are after airating the lawn and before a rain.

Hope this helps?

Excuse my ignorance, but is this true?

Diesels DO emit CO (carbon monoxide). Just not as much as a gasoline engine. Also much of diesel exhaust is made up of particulates (soot), and the basics of our atmosphere-- Nitrogen, oxygen, water, etc. This amounts to about 97% of the exhaust. The other 3% is the carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, NOX, and stuff like that.

I should know... :-laf :-laf I did a #@$%! #@$%! #@$%! Advanced Biology paper on Diesel emissions and cancer risk in High school--- might as well have been a college paper for all the work that was in it. :)

To return to the subject at hand... . a diesel will kill em too... . just takes longer. :D I prefer the heavy artillery and mass gunpowder though..... just for the excitement/pyro factor.

although the Rodenator is a riot... . a mini FAE bomb. Oo. Oo.

I had the same problem a few years ago... Take a big ol' road flare, fire it up, and stick it down the hole. Cover it up. When you see smoke from another hole, cover it up too. Let it burn out underground. The smoke seems to take care of 'em. It worked for me.

This is true. They are there for food, if you eliminate the food, they go away. Problem solved.

G-R-D... . I like that idea- it sounds like a "reverse 'field of dreams' " solution :-laf

I actually met with the owner of the exterminator company today and he told me this: VOLES not moles are in the yard. Moles do not live where I am at. Moles burrow deep down into the soil, voles do not- they are more of a "just below the surface" critter. Biggest difference: moles will feed off of insects, bugs, grubs etc... VOLES do not. They are "vegitarians" and to eliminate thier food source would in effect mean removing grass and other plant life.

I told exterminator of some of the more creative ideas presented here. With moles, the ideas might be more effective. The mole holes are not as "porous" as the vole holes- i. e. the vole holes will "absorb" the smoke, gas, flame etc... They will be getting a technician on board very soon who is experiences with this type vermin and we will tackle the issue soon. They have variouis methods (chemical, mechanical etc... ) and he suggested to take care of them before the next snow fall (about 6-8 weeks away) because they can wreck havoc UNDER the snow cover.

I'll keep everyone posted. BUT, Keep those "creative" solution coming!

Try opening up the run and putting a little lye in the hole. when the critter walks thru the lye and gets it on his feet it burns and he licks it off! end of critter!

My parents put out a version of the above post. Their version was made of confetti i think. Its only about 8 inches in diameter and can be bought for around a buck each. Buy about 20 of them and put them all over your yard working from the inside out and when they leave, keep these wind mill things around the perimeter of your yard.
