What does thing really do for you??? I just aquired one but I'm leary about putting it in. I'd like as much information as I can get. I know it advances timing but how does that effect the valves. Don't want to mess up my truck. Thanks!

Does not effect valves at all. It advances the injection timing about 2 degrees. I have one, first thing I notice was a more responsive bottom end, you can here it in the exhaust that it is running different. Fuel milage went up about 1 - 1. 5 mpg.

I already have an edge J/A and took it out because I think its adversly effecting my fuel mileage. The buddy that I got the sensor from told me it helped his fuel mileage. My question is this, how many degrees does the edge Juice advance the timing. If i put the crank sensor in with out installing the edge juice, will I just be back in the same boat?

Basically advance the timing in your motor by using the crank sensor and or the juice as much as you safely can. If you advance the timing too much it would not be good (power loss, increase of egt)

When I installed my sensor I really didn't notice any increase in mpg. Truck did idle a little more quietly. and low end power seemed to go up slightly

I get a lot of mixed reviews with the rokktech. Put simply, I don't want to spend even a small amount of time installing it if it isn't really going to work. My buddy swears it worked for him but only had it installed for a week before he traded the truck in due to an unfixable long crank problem. I inherited all his aftermarket stuff.

I've had mine in for about 6 months. The first thing I noticed was my truck didn't seem as loud. After driving the first week I felt that the throttle response was better, no increase in mileage still around 13. 5, last time I checked my truck weight with all my tools was #10000.

Rokktech

So the end result on if it increases MPG is a definite maybe.

I am always looking to improve fuel economy but this gadget probably is not it. I am at 15. 4 on no. 1 diesel.

I fooled with the Rokktech for nearly 8000 miles. Shimmed it with different thicknesses of electrical tape to vary the advance but I was never able to get as good as stock MPG. I finally sold it to another TDR member. Jeff

Thumbs down on the Rokktech

I've heard more negatives than positives. I'm not going to install the Rokktech. It's just not worth it when i have the edge JA for power already and it won't improve my MPG. Thanks for all the inputs!!

Just put it in and you'll know for yourself. Most people are happy with them, but they don't bother to read this thread, since it's been beat to death last year.

Good to see that I'm not the only one getting lousy mileage. I'm averaging around 15 and it sucks. I can't really tell if we're running winter blend diesel around here either.

I installed the RockTeck and FASS last November... so I was starting with winterized fuel... I went from averaging 15mpg (on winterized fuel) to being able to pull 20mpg out on the highway... 20mpg was what I got with summer fuel.

I recently added the dynatrac kit and just the last tank got into summer fuel again (yep, it is that noticeable)... I'm up to at least 22mpg... maybe more since I was running the truck pretty hard on the first part of this tank... to give you an idea, I usually get 150 miles by the time the guage gets to 7/8tank (at 20mpg)... I'm at 178 miles at the same point... and not babying it that much.

The Rocktech made my truck have more grunt at idle, smoothed out the way it ran, and seems to have helped with mileage. It was well worth it to me.

Thanks for the info steve. I'm hoping that my milage is attributed to winter blend diesel. I was getting 19 to 21 during the summer. Thanks for the info on the rokktech. I'm still on the fence with it.

If you are concerned about whether it is worth the money, why not mod the tone ring... does the same thing... if you don't like it, you can simply move the tone ring back to the OEM setting and it costs you nothing.

I know there are threads on that and I believe from what I've read, it takes about 20 minutes to do.

I had one on my truck for about two months... is did seem to have a slilght bit more torque but the mileage was exactly the same.

I read that the guys with a s speed got the most mpg benefit... sold mine to a TDR member with a 6 speed... .

I have a Rokktech and sold my J/A

Before with Juice/Attitude mostly on #1 and/or stock:

Highway - 17. 49mpg aggregrate blended and unblended fuel

city/commute - 14. 86mpg on unblended fuel

city/commute - 12. 34mpg on blended fuel

towing 9500lbs - 9. 44mpg on blended fuel

After installing Rokktech CS and then selling J/A;

Highway - 18. 67mpg aggregrate blended and unblended fuel

city/commute - 16. 07mpg on unblended fuel

city/commute - 13. 88mpg on blended fuel

towing 9500lbs - 10. 01mpg on blended fuel

Last 3 tanks have been 21. 65, 20. 37, and 20. 80mpg at around 64-69mph. My best ever with the J/A was 19. 65 on #1. #2 cost mileage, so did #3 and #4. I have about 12,500 miles on since the sensor install so it either works or my tires have lost enough tread to skew my results. ;) I'm an engineer so I don't really believe in luck when it comes to mechanical things but there appears to be enough scatter in the performance of these trucks to make even the most devout Six Sigma Black Belt wring their hands in despair.

Have had one installed since last summer. Truck is loaded at around 9500# all the time, and with the sensor mileage has gone up around 1-1. 5mpg. Much peppier on the low-end also, no problems with cold starts, tho I still get the occasional 5-7 sec crank (same as before sensor), then sometimes it will start after 2 secs. . guess it depends on where the motor stopped on last shutdown. I like my 96 better for starting heh

i say put it in. it took me a whole 10mins.
