My truck is on order and I was wondering if anyone out there could give some input on this type of bed cover or it's competitor?

We had the Aero Cover on our Dakota, I would like to try something different that does the same thing.

roll and lock cover

if you are talking about the Pace Edwards and another brand that i can't remember, i was told that they leak water. if that isn't a concern for you, then it is a good idea. i also saw one after it had been on a truck for a time, and it hadn't aged well. the accessory place where i bought mine sells the roll and locks, but doesn't push them for the leak reason. after havein soft tonneaus on my previous 2 trucks, i went to a hard tonneau on this one, and LOVE it. see HD RAM pix in the Readers Rigs section. :) :)

lid

i forgot which pic of the lid i had posted. it doesn't show the edge. it is an ARE Lo Pro. it doesn't lap down over the sides or tailgate, so the tailgate can be opened with the lid down, or closed. i've got some more pix to post, when i have time.

Been happy with mine. I always had fiberglass lids before. They looked great, but you could never haul anything without taking it off. The Pace powered one is cool, but big $$$. there is another company besides Pace and Roll n Lock, but I like the way the r&l was made. I'm not biased cause I can sell either one. (Yup, you could call me a dealer. I've got a habit to support. My name is Rick and I'm a bombaholic. );)

Like Mine

I have the Roll N' Lock. Does what it is supposed to do. Haven't noticed any leaks yet.

While at the dealers for them the other day they had another brand that was recently(well in last year or so) out. Forgot the name but it had some nice features. Guess everything is a compromise. (G)

I've got the Pace Edwards and installed it myself. It leaks some water at the tail gate and at a one spot along the right side. It's more like a weep that a leak. Undoubtedly the leak is from my not quite perfect installation. I put it on when I transferred from Washington to South Carolina.

It does a good job of keeping things out of sight and safe. I choose it over the fiberglass tops becuase I haul things that stick up above the bed and the Pace Edwards just rolls up out of the way.

I would buy it again if I had it to do all over. :) :)

Roll-n-lock

I have a Roll-N-Lock and you couldn't give me another one. When it arrived half of the screws and bolts were missing. These covers don't fit our trucks right a special set of brackets have to be added to the front of the bed. And the clamps that hold the track for the cover don't fit properly to the bed rails. Their e-mail support is useless also. i have e-mailed them several times and have got no responce.

Another type of retractable hard bed cover is Peragon. It accordian folds instead of rolling.

I don't know anyone that has one installed on a pickup. Most truck owners around here go with soft tonneau or toppers.

I talked to a guy in Menards parking lot that has a RETRAX cover. He said it works pretty good.

Lots of options and products out there. Good luck!

I have the Pace Edwards. It does leak a small amount at the tailgate. I think I would call it a dribble instaed of a leak. Had it for almost a year. Would buy it again. All it needs is a little grease in the channels ever once in a while.

I installed a Roll N Lock over a year ago... It has held up well, but it isn't perfect. I agree with Grant1 that the install kit, and instructions aren't up to snuff. Takes a lot of adjusting to get the side rails on right, and spaced correctly. Also, the tail gate lock setup leaves a lot to be desired. They sent me the wrong tail gate bar, so it wouldn't lock. Modified it to make it work while they sent me the right one. Just left my modified one on, as it works. Overall, I'm still satisfied with it. I got the all metal version as I didn't want to deal with fading or torn material on the soft top, and the metal one is stronger. It isn't fully water tight and when it rains a lot, it will spill some into the box... May not be a "self install" unless your pretty handy with tools, and fixing things that don't quite match up... :)
