Has anyone looked into this? Would we be lucky enough for a Mopar, F**D, C***Y, or AMC Rocker to interchange on the B5. 9 head?

Roller Rockers are good for a 4-15 hp increase on a gasser. Harland Sharp says 15-40 hp. I like the idea of the decreased friction and wear.

Also a 1. 6:1 or 1. 7:1 ratio rocker would make the cam seem larger than it is. ( if the valve to piston clearence is there) Probably pickup . 050 lift.

Harland Sharp will custom make rockers if we want them. Would want both roller tip & fulcrum.

I'd like some of what you guys took this morning

We already have that kind of rocker ratio, about 1. 67E and 1. 70I.

The mushroom lifter has a 5/8" stem, with a 1. 19" diameter foot . 25" thick. That means unless you machine the block, you are stuck with very small rollers. IMHO, better stay with the mushrooms.

I know you are searching for those loose hp, but I think somewhere else will be more fruitful. Sorry. ;) When you find it, let me know. my Ram is feeling real sickly, lately. :--)

Shoot you guys, there is a ton of power just waiting to had yet without going there!

Why, Mitchell is still using stock-----well, almost stock valvetrain parts. ;)

Besides, when you go up in hp, you should go 200-300 at a time not, 15-40!!:D

That is the 'ole gasser in HEMI Dart popping out!

It would be cool just to have them, nobody else does. :D

Hemi,,Not sure where the increase HP numbers like that would come from,,In back to back tests on a Superflo dyno using my 6bbl stocker motor the gains from a set of Mopar ductile iron adjustable(max wedge style) to a set of H-S rollers did only produce a meare 6 hp gain,,Is the cost really worth the power number, not in my book, unless your in a heads up class race where it "may" give you that hundreth you need,BUT,in stock eliminator racing the rollers are illegal anyway,,With the ratio of our rocker system and the size of the lifters I'd have to agree with Joe(ouch that hurt) and say WHY do it,,Being different is the only reason I'd see, cost would definately outweigh the benefits you would reap,,Making the combo work is a better way to the power you want and since we all know our motors are designed to spin and make power down low any advantage of a true roller system would nelegated due to their inherent characteristics of not helping till way up in the rpm band and who would want to spin her that hard,,I've seen Smokin' Daves truck and with mostly stock parts and a stock valve train it is nothing short of amazing the power made by his truck,,Something to keep in mind also,in some applications I've actually seen H-S rockers hurt power in BB Chryslers as the shafts flex and allows the motor to go into valve float early and it KILLS hp,,Once it starts, valve float, one can not stop it tilll the motor is brought back to a idle so by keeping it at rpm after all it does is hurt parts,,Gasser technology sometimes will work in our trucks, but. not all of it,,Mushroom cams can make the same kind of power cars I twist wrenches on have set records with them in when everyone else was running rollers,,If the combo is right power can be made... .

Stick with stock... . they'll last 1million miles and you won't have to do anything odd to your engine to make something work that only increases HP a little tiny bit.

Jam a boatload of fuel into your cylinders and jam a barge full of boost into your engine via a good head(gasket... )/backcut valves (actuated with a HP camshaft), keep it 'tuned' right (timing, etc. ), and hold on tight. Seriously, I bet those custom pieces will run about $600/set... not worth it for barely double digit HP increases.

We got it easy having a turbo already there for us... . and even easier having the kickbutt P7100... . do what works, it has been known to make 600hp more than once. If you need more than that... then consider why you need more and then do something about it.

Just my $. 02 worth... .

Matt

Dave Mitchell runnin mostly stock valvetrain? Dave just got done producing a full custom billet cam for his truck that he is probably running already. Different pushrods, valvesprings, retainers, keepers, and reworked lifters are also involved. Don't forget about the cut pistons. I think the rockers however may be stock.
