It is in my owner's manual, but don't know if it is in yours also. It says to cycle the key on and off FOUR times and leave it on the fourth time and hit the power lock button and you should hear a "chime" . Tip, wait for the three or four chimes that usually come on when you turn the key on before you hit the lock button so that you can hear the single "chime" you are looking for. To re-enable the feature, just do this again.

YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been looking for this for 2 years. Done the search thing etc. Have the service manuals and have read them from stem to stern looking for the "procedure".

IF I want the door locked I will lock it!

It is 04:21 est and I am working on computer servers. I had to go try the fix. IT WORKS as you say. CERTAINLY MADE MY DAY!!! Security wondered why I was racing down the parking lot at 04:20 at 25 mph though, stop, then do it again just to be sure.

No more parking the truck and going around to the other side to get my briefcase out and "damn door is locked!".

If it is my fault, then so be it, I can live with that!

GONNA BE A WONDERFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD today

THANKS, well worth the $ for a whole year of TDR!

Just for couriosity, WHERE in the service manual? I have looked and looked for the "procedure".

Bob,

I found it in my Owner's manual, not service manual. I am not sure if it is in all manuals but it was in my 01. 5 manual. I have no idea what years have different manuals. it was under "rolling lock feature" or something similar. Check the index in the back.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying it!

I just disabled mine last week too. But there is one thing I noticed. When I use my keyless entry button to unlock the doors the first push of the button turns on the interior light and the second push unlocks the doors. Did I do something wrong or is this the way it is supposed to work?

Sounds strange to me. Mine will unlock and turn the interior light on with one push of the button. My keyless entry works the same with the rolling lock feature enabled or disabled.

I finally figured out why my interior lights come on with the first press and the doors unlock with the second press. When I shut off the rolling locks I must have cycled the key and then hit the unlock button once instead of the lock button. I tried it again today with the unlock button and it switches between the normal mode where doors unlock with one press on the fob and a hidden mode where it turns on the interior lights on the first press and unlocks on the second press.

Did you find that in the owners manual too, or

the service manual?

I too noticed this, that 4 on offs of the key, right?

Thanks for all reply to this post!!

Marc

No, I couldn't find it listed anywhere in my owners manual. I ran across this by mistake mostly because I am too stupid to follow instructions. ;)

Another tip although it doesn't involve the keyless entry.

If you use the key to unlock the driver's door, the passenger's door will remain locked.

If you turn the key a second time while it's in the lock, it will unlock the passenger's side door for you.
