Anyone familiar with or had experience with Certain Teed Landmark roofing products? I just got a bid from a really expensive bid from a roofer who advertises on tv with a high end product for $17-$17k for my roof. Today I got another bid from the guy who put my roof on 25 years ago for less than $7k using certain teed roofing.

When we were in the lumber business Certainteed was not considered "premium", but I doubt there is 10K difference in materials. Will the lower bid guy use the brand of your choice? Tamko, ELK, etc.

Probably. Maybe not premium. But is it still good ? Or something to stay away from? It is called Landmark Series

I don't recall them being problematic. Early Owens Corning shingles had a reputation for wind damage, and when Georgia Pacific was in the shingle business we saw lots of issues with them being "off pattern" even in the same batch number. The fact that you got good results with the low bidder before would carry a lot of weight with me.

Asphalt Roofing a MUST?

We have a Metal roof and lasts FOREVER!!!

Yes you can get the Metal roofs that look just like asphalt shingles.

With as much rain as you folks in Seattle have that sounds like the way to go to me BTJMO

I have a lightweight concrete tile roof that is about 30 years old.So far so good.Not sure if they get used much in your neck of the woods

the trusses need to be 2x6 for tile roofs,
most roof trusses are 2x4,
that said, if you can find a local metal roofer who has their own stamping tool, it's usually not much more to go to a metal roof, non-exposed screws. if it is exposed screws something like prolock2 or probpanal, would be higher end of my list.
certain teed are decent shingle. make them tear off the old roof first though.

We just did one of our roofs last year. It had the el cheapo 3 tabs on it that were just worn out and two of the three skylights had hail damage bad enough to leak. I ended up using a Pro Panel metal roof using their heavier metal gauge line and it was literally only a few hundred dollars more than replacing it with a medium quality architectural 3 tab shingle.
