Anyone installed an aftermarket seat heater??

I have a Rostra brand (http://www.rostra.com/ac-seatheaters.asp) that I want to put in. Everything but where I locate the small heater switch looks pretty straight forward.

I have electric seats. Would like to add this switch to that area but not sure there is any room.

Any suggesstions?

Been getting spoiled with wifes heat leather seats in new Envoy.

No reason the old dodge could not provide the same comfort!

I put mine in last summer and have been using it every day since it started getting cold this fall. Works great. Nothing like toasty buns and back on a 20* morning!

I put mine next to the seat control buttons as you've indicated. I put it as the first switch, that is, the most forward one. I also installed their lumbar support airbag since the factory one hits me too high on my back. The switch for it is next to the stock support switch, so its the last one in line.

The only thing I'd like to do now is wire up a small LED as an "idiot" light somewhere to let me know it's on without having to wait until I notice the seat is getting hot. That happend to me a few times during the summer.

rostra seat heaters

I found the rostra seat heaters at mnrelectronics.com 1-800-343-1312 for $99 vs $129 at the rostra web site,I only wished I'd found it before I ordered.

Tanks Jay

Sent you a PM also. Did you put the switch infront of the factory electric seat switches or on the factory switch assembly?

Any tips on the seat cover removal?

Thanks for any help.

Heaters are in!

Seat upholstry in 96 model year trucks is very easy to get off and work with. Nice plastic strip connectors. I pulled the seat (four bolts in the floor). Now having done it, I believe these heaters could be added without removing seat.

I only rolled back seat cover a few inches. Was easy enough to insert heaters in proper position. The Rostra kit is very complete with nice wiring harnesses.

I was able to add the heater control switch to the factory electric seat control panel on the side of the seat. There is a blank spot just to the rear of the last switch. Even though you go through the factory switch box and plug it is all hollow (plastic). With a 7/8" "Unibit" it is very easy.

Thanks Jay for the PM!
