How many oh **** moments have you had where you want to look behind you,

Hahahha... I can only think of one and since my 5er was sliding into the lane anyway... I just let off the brake and got back on it and went,... much better to side swipe a car than rear end one so I guess it really wouldn't matter! Gotta say its quite a surprise to come over a rolling hill and see a HUGE accident and cars stopped everywhere when youre going 65.

You can have the camera come on when needed but requires a bit of work. You can put a switch in to give power to the camera with diodes to prevent reverse power flow. I have display in RR view mirror and will be placing a monetary push button switch that I can push with left foot to power on camera when I would want to see hitch or car behind me. So far I believe this will work from looking though wiring diagrams. Haven't had a chance to jump power yet to confirm.

I doubt it will work.

My tailgate off camera is powered all the time the truck is in run mode using the Run Relay Control lead in the tailgate connector. I still have to hit the radio controls to view it if I'm not in reverse. Unlike the stock camera I'm not able to view the camera in accessory mode which makes me believe the stock camera is using the lin bus instead of the run relay lead for power.

Mirrors the same size but the modular thing behind it is huge

Yes it is, but it extends above the mirror and not below or beside it so I don’t see it blocking anything for me more than the standard mirror on my’18. Time will tell.

When I picked up my truck I was surprised how small the box behind the mirror was. It didn’t match any of the photos I had seen of the digital rear view mirror. I figured out why today.

The huge box behind the mirror is part of Safety Group B and must have the camera and/or radar for adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance. Since I didn’t get that package I don’t have the same setup as most the photos.

Very small I was worried about that on my truck also. Two big to see by a major dead vision spot I did not want
