Rotella oil smell

Just changed the oil in my '00 RAM 3500. It had Delo 400 in it, couldn't get Delo here so I put Rotella in. Now I get a distinct odor frequently, it seems to be the Rotella odor. Anyone experience this with Rotella? I also noticed an increase in the oil pressure.

After reading the oil posts I think I will make an effort to find the Delo 400 next time, seems to be a bit better than the Rotella.

thats typical of rotella , takes about 500 miles before it goes , i use delvac 1300 , no smell .

That's why I bought a Diesel - couldn't stand the smell of Ethyl anymore

Aside form the smell, Rotella is one of the best oils you can use in your truck. I dont even smell it anymore since i got rid of the breather bottle.

Noticed the same thing here Bill. When going from delo to rotella I now anticipate the additional rotella small. Thats why I go w/ delo when possible.

Also seem to notice the motor sounds a little smoother/quieter w/ the delo. Probably just my imagination, but I like the Delo better.

The smell is normal. I think it compliments #2 diesel quite nicely.

I also use the Rotella in my 01 and that smell is just fine with me. Besides it goes away shortly after the oil change.

Second oil change. 1st one by the dealer (free) ended up in the body shop for a week. Second oil change by me with Rotella, kinda like the smell.

Please check your local Wal-Mart. They should have Delo 400 at about $5. 87 per gallon.
